Nexus 6P - Android 6.0.1 Rolling Out Starting Today

Re: Android 6.0.1 Rolling Out Starting Today

I just went ahead an flashed it to my nexus 6p on project fi and it seems to be minor update with nothing really major going on.

Re: Android 6.0.1 Rolling Out Starting Today

I flashed this manually from the system images and my signal on T-Mobile got really bad.

Probably band 12? When my Motorola Nexus 6 finally got band 12 support my speeds in certain places went down. Specifically at work... I get an okay band 4 connection here at work but once they activated band 12 the phone seemed to like band 12 more (Guessing it's a "Stronger" signal) but my speeds were down dramatically compared to what was probably a weaker band 4 connection.... Overall band 12 gave me better overall coverage everywhere.. Fills a lot of the holes.. I just wished that if band 4 was available it would default to that and only go to band 12 in spots where there is no other option but 3G or HSPA+.....

Google Now is the only real issue I've had. No matter what I do, can't get it to stay "always on" and work when my screen is off.

I wonder if you might have defective hardware. I'm not seeing any issues with OK Google with the screen off here. Same settings as the post above.

Re: Android 6.0.1 Rolling Out Starting Today

There is no band 12 here. And both, bars and dbm. When I had a nexus 6p, band 12 was up for like a day and they took it down. Maybe they were just testing it. As soon as I went back to the previous factory image the speed issues went away and my signal returned to normal.

Yikes. Now I'm scared about accepting the OTA when it comes

thanks for your sharing, hope the LG V10 will upgraded soon.

Re: Android 6.0.1 Rolling Out Starting Today

There's a bug on Android 6.0 (or in GMail?) which causes the GMail app to falter when sending an email from a Hotmail/Outlook mail account. Outgoing mail gets stuck in the Outbox, causing the app to continuously attempt to sync with the Hotmail/Outlook servers. This causes a massive battery drain. Google is aware, but so far, no solution has been found. And just today, one of those people effected reports that 6.0.1 didn't fix it.

Yup, Have the same issue.. the work around for the time being is to delete your Hotmail account and then re add it. But yes, It is a big battery drain.

Yeah band 12 support on the Moto Nexus 6 was a mixed bag.....

At least for me it's MOSTLY worth it just because of the gaps and holes in T-Mobiles Band 4 coverage..... Fewer holes and dead zones but much slower overall speeds...... I know of spots where I've had Download speeds in the 60 - 80 Mbps on band 4 and then when my phone upgraded to band 12 support (Moto Nexus 6) I went to 10 - 20 in those same spots but now on band 12 instead of band 4 so I don't know how the system/software/phone picks one over the other.... On the N6 it seemed like the phone would default to band 12 even with a band 4 option.......

Band 12 is definitely slower than band 4. I think this is normal. The main benefit of band 12 is the fact that it's lower frequency and thus has better penetration, which is great for densely populated areas. Band 12 is definitely much better than HSPA(+), which is what it's designed to replace IMO. In areas where Band 4 falters, instead of dropping down to H you should still get LTE through B12. I believe this is the idea in theory. We'll see how it goes in practice :)

What I did was just go on outlook.com and create a forward to your gmail. So now no more draining battery.

Yep band 12 is built for reliability -- not so much for speed.

Leo explains it here pretty well - http://forums.androidcentral.com/t-mobile/618537-band-12-what-why-important.html

Re: Android 6.0.1 Rolling Out Starting Today

Wait - none of you are having the miserable bluetooth issues that are discussed extensively in another thread? My phone won't maintain a connection with my car. It goes on and off in the middle of calls. I consider it a major Marshmallow bug.

I'm having that issue also, but not all the time. When I first got the phone it worked fine, now it connects intermittently with my cars bluetooth. Sometimes it works normal, other times it connects and disconnects while I'm driving. I know this because I have a car app that's set to come on when bluetooth connects to my car radio.

It's constantly turning off & on while I'm driving. I wouldn't have even noticed the difference if not for my car home app, since I don't get a lot of calls. I would just hate for it not to work when I do actually receive a call, because when I do, it's usually something important or from someone I really want to talk to. It also disconnects randomly from other bluetooth devices.

All this has started happening recently over the past couple of weeks. I also have this weird thing going on with the alarm symbol intermittently showing up in the notification area by the clock, with no alarm set.

I have a lot of apps, and not sure if it's Marshmallow or a app. I may have to do a factory reset, which I'm trying to avoid. it would be nice if this update fixed all that. I still love the phone, other than these issues.
