Nexus 6p battery

View attachment 207259

It's been 36 hrs since I had my 6P plugged into a charger. You can clearly see where Doze kicked in. Screen on time is currently at 2hr 15m.

I'm curious what is keeping your phone awake, especially the long awake period towards the center? Were you possibly downloading a large file or is it a misbehaving app (since the screen was not on for most of that period)?

Much of that was running Pandora or Google Music and transmitting via Bluetooth to a sound system.

So I set my phone down at 1am when I went to bed. It was at 65% battery. When I woke up 5 hours later, 53%. This seems poor to me. Any tips?

Looks like Doze isn't working right. Reboot the phone. I had a similar issue a couple weeks ago, rebooted the phone and Doze started working correctly again.

It appears you have a misbehaving app, as your phone is always "Awake". It doesn't help that it appears you had some issues with your Network signal. While rebooting might work, at least temporarily, it is also very possible that need to find and remove the misbehaving app. The two I'd start with is if you have GSAM or GasBuddy installed -- while GasBuddy did appear to include a "fix" in their last update, it appears that it is still causing issues for some people on Marshmallow.

You hit the nail on the head. Took a nap this morning and here's what happened. Thanks

Been about 2 weeks using the 6p and yesterday I took the phone off the charger at 4:30 and it died at about 10pm. Had 5.5 hrs SoT. Streamed a podcast for about an hour, browsing, social media and took some pics and video. Coming from a mxpe I feel like this battery is miles better. And I work construction so my phone never goes I to doze mode throughout the day.

so safe to assume you're not connected to wifi?

After a couple weeks now, I charge my phone every 70 hours or so with around 2.5-3 hours of screen-on time. Mixed usage, with lots of chats going (WhatsApp group chats mostly) and lots of picture taking. The battery life is flat out ridiculous. It has a reliable 3-day battery with my usage.

Couldn't imagine going back to a smaller battery or bloat phone after this every day

I know it's nice to see just how far you can go from time to time but it's really not a good idea for the long-term life of the battery to run it down to nothing on a regular basis. These batteries perform best when kept between 20%-80% capacity.

Hey what's up guys. I've had my Nexus 6p for about 5 days now and wanted to share my battery life. Today, I've used it heavily ie youtube vids, browsing, texting etc..let me know what you think.

Second best battery phone I've ever owned to the iPhone 6 plus. Definitely my favorite feature of the phone

OK, what is the best way to find out what is causing Awake and Wi-Fi on all night. I have Wi-Fi on during sleep set to Never. I also go in and manually set Wi-Fi to off before going to bed. I have checked and cannot find any thing that keeping it a wake and Wi-Fi on.

Most likely a rogue app. The only way is to uninstall a couple apps at a time and see when it finally goes away. Some apps to start with though are Facebook apps if you have them on your phone. Those are absolutely notorious for keeping devices awake.

I do not use any social media apps. I can be social just not that social. I have quit a few apps and uninstalling them and reinstalling them would take sometime. Then letting it sit overnight or several hours to see which one are awake. I have heard about apps like Greenify and WakeLock may do this for me. Back in Lollipop if my memory service me correct you could just disable an app and then re-enable it has this been moved or removed in Marshmallow?

If you don't mind me asking, how did you come to the conclusion that GSAM was draining battery? I'm just curious because I'm using it too, although I'm not seeing any noticeable drain.

I did a complete reset on my phone and reinstalled a few apps at a time, to help me narrow down the ones causing issues. Having said that, GSAM has come out with a new update (Dec. 20) since I wrote that post, which updated the app for Marshmallow, and it appears to be working now. I've reinstalled it recently and am having no issues. Unfortunately, even though GasBuddy has updated their app, and it is improved, it still causes many wakelocks -- just doesn't always keep the phone awake, like it did previously.
