Nexus 6p battery

At first, I wasn't happy w/the battery life. After a few cycles of draining it to below 15% after a full charge (thru my normal use), I think I can live with where it's been, lately.

My latest, w/4 hrs 18 min OST

Any idea why the two are showing different data? one says 5hrs left the other 19hrs. And holy hell, I'm draining 1% per 2-3mins. :|

sounds like there are real QC issues with whoever manufactured the N6P's battery

Ditto here. I'm getting around 3 hours before my phone hits the dust.

I'm in the same boat. Initially, for about the first week I was getting 4 hours of SOT with 8-10% battery to spare before I plugged in at night. Of late, I am getting 2-3 hours. Stand by time is great however. Exchange, and those weird background battery consumers go away for me after a re-start but the SOT is still about the same. Since day 1 I have been running Fenix for twitter with favourite updates, 2 gmail emails, one exchange email, up2 band , ebay running along with my news apps (i have quite a few)..I have noticed that calls do take their tolls and that is probably why I'm running out of battery quicker..Overall I am satisfied since I get about 20-30 minutes of rapid charging in the car in the evening and that gets me through the night if I have to go out etc but it has however worsened even though I expected it to get better since I was fiddling with it a lot more the first week I had it..

Yeah, this is a projection of something that normally takes 1440 minutes based on the first 6 minutes. If you continue to see this, contact Google, but don't use battery estimates to determine your battery is faulty. Gather empirical evidence.

Just a little tip for you guys who still follow that old "battery school" website's suggestion to cycle your battery to empty and then recharge a few times to 'train" it: That's outdated information. With the newer batteries people are now recommending that you don't drain your battery to near empty on purpose anymore and suggest topping it up if you go below around 15% if you can so you don;t shorten the battery's lifespan

Yeah, this was very light use over the weekend, but even so, no other Android phone I've owned in the past would come close to touching this, even if I didn't touch it all after taking it off the charger.

fyi I can indeed confirm there are large variances in the factory battery as I received a new one and the difference is marked. unfortunately there also seems to be a big variance in the overall qc, as this phone seems to have come to me slightly bent

::edit:: phone still bent it seems lol, but the variance in battery life isn't as great as I thought. this one is definitely slightly better, but not by much.

Did you receive a replacement or a brand new phone? Might be worth swapping out my phone and hopefully getting better battery life! Can you tell us what the difference is in terms of old phone vs. replacement phone?

I think I spoke a little too soon - battery life isn't hugely improved as I initially thought -- it is a little better, but I would definitely say it falls in what I would consider a normal range for a battery these days

Just out of curiosity what are your screen brightnesses at everyone? Mine's on the lower ⅓ with adaptive brightness and I'm getting around 2-3 hours SOT. I'm just trying to figure out how big a difference screen brightness makes - it makes sense to assume that the screen is the biggest battery consumer.

Slightly below halfway w/AB on.

Likewise, I vary from all the way dim to probably ~40-50%, always with AB on. Will turn off if it becomes an issue. Right now, averaging around 110-120mAh per hour of screen on time - seems about right.

I'm not the heaviest user (~3h screen on time during this period, 75% brightness), but I just plugged in my phone for the first time in sixty-five hours, and it still had 12% left, which would have easily lasted me several more hours, if not to the end of the day with minimal use. That is bloody incredible. Found a work around for the WiFi doze bug I was having and it seemed to fix it right up. This is on a brand new battery too (second ever charge) - usually batteries get a bit better after a few cycles.

that is truly incredible... what do u do with the phone, leave the screen on some and that's it? lol what apps are being used, etc. calls made? that's only roughly an hour/day of real use, which, given this phone's battery capabilities on doze, I guess makes sense

I just turn on the screen when I need to use it, to text, look something up, lunch hour browsing, take some pictures, the odd phone call, etc. and then I turn it off. I'm not one of those people who sets the phone down and leaves the screen on for 1 min until it times out (I see so many people do that). I use it to stream to my Chromecast too but that doesn't use device battery really. I don't play games. I don't have Facebook, Instagram, or Facebook Messenger installed (I have decided I hate all things Facebook). I have about 40 apps installed, mostly google apps, news apps, WhatsApp for my group chats, Netflix, NHL, Chive, etc. Honestly I have no idea how people get to 3h of screen on time in a single day unless you are playing games, or have a LOT of time to kill staring at your phone (maybe a flight or long transit commute or something which is much more reasonable). I'm in 5 group chats, do some light lunch time browsing, and rely on my phone pretty heavily and it takes me 2-3 days to hit 3-4 hours of screen time.

Location set to "battery saving" (only reason you need high accuracy is when you use Navigation), and I turned off the "follow my device" location feature. I don't think I'm doing anything too out of the ordinary, but if I pushed it I could get a full 3 days of battery life. Google photos set to upload & sync only when charging.

The screen is the battery killer, and I don't have a ton of screen on time, so Doze is definitely to credit for the huge battery life (it lost 1% last night, from 30% to 29% over 8 hours of sleep). That 29% was what I was left with to start this third day since the last charge, and I decided to plug it in at 12% in the afternoon. I do keep my brightness pretty high at 75% though for better whites. I'm glad I'm not staring at my phone for 3 hours a day to be honest haha, and in return I get amazing battery life.

It's fun to see how long it will last, but really, the thing charges in an hour, which is equally as impressive so even if I was charging it every day, it would be a complete non-issue.

My battery life has been consistent. I've never lost more than a couple % overnight thanks to doze and continue to end my day at bed time with about 40% unless I've been using it hard all day with games, videos etc.
