Re: 6P bend and scratch test, not good viewing!

All phones will suffer from that abuse. Nothing to worry about. Who in their right mind would spend hundreds of pounds an then purposely scratch it or hold a lighter to it or try and bend it like that.

Someone who makes money testing devices.

If you look at his thumbs, you can see he was applying a lot of force. No reviewer has mentioned their phones accidentally bending, so I wouldn't worry too much yet.

I hope you are right but he seemed to bend the phone very easily without applying much pressure!

Re: 6P bend and scratch test, not good viewing!

hmmmm ..., well the scratch test on the back pretty much made my decision about whether to go with the aluminum or not. I must admit I'm a little concerned about the bend test, in terms of putting it in a back pants pocket.

I've had my 6p for a week now, seems fine to me. MKBHD mentioned he had his for over a month and hasn't reported a hint of any bending issues. So we'll see.

That looks like a demo unit, there is no logo on it or anything. Either that or a knock off. I wouldn't put much stock in this, just some sensationalist crap.

Re: 6P bend and scratch test, not good viewing!

^ It does have a Nexus and Huawei logo on the back. I am not worried about bending much since i don't put a phone in my back pocket and have a nexus case for it which although soft should hold it firmly in place. I am more worried about scratches though since a good quality screen protector is still some days away from reaching me.

Edit: It appears that the first few seconds of the video show a phone without a logo and then it all of a sudden appears :)

Your right I saw it at the end. It didn't look like it on the scratch test. I still think the phone will be fine. I'm sorry I'm not going to sit there and try and bend it then light it on fire.

Re: 6P bend and scratch test, not good viewing!

The screen cracking after the scratch test was more alarming to me than anything else.

Re: 6P bend and scratch test, not good viewing!

I carry my phones in my back pocket and I've never had a problem. However, I've never been able to bend a phone with my hands. WTH?

I live with my phone in my back pocket all the time. I've only had the 6p for a day now and it's been in my back pocket a few times already. I do have a case on it but it's basically just a TPU case.. Wouldn't help much in the bending world... Will protect it from the scratching on the back of the device.

So far it seems solid... It is super thin so bending wouldn't be out of the question..... So far I love it so I am not going to worry at all..

All of my phones have basically lived in my back pockets. However I'm pretty OCD about things (everything has a place, everything in its place) so I'm not worried about bending. Scratching maybe, I don't use cases or screen protectors, I don't like how they detract from the experience of the phone.

For contrast, here's a bend test of the iPhone 6s Plus:

I'm really hoping the bend test video above is a fake, because there's no way you should be able to bend the phone with your hands.

Re: 6P bend and scratch test, not good viewing!

It's a little bit worrisome - the guy has been doing tests like this on phones for a while now. It's not just some random dude, he's got like 75k subscribers.

What I am thinking is that the cracked screen contributed to the ease at which the phone was able to be bent. Screens provide a significant amount of rigidity to a smartphone. Cracked screen = easy to bend for many devices.

At any rate, we need another couple of tests before any conclusions are made, but this isn't a comforting video...how many days do you have before returning to Google?

Re: 6P bend and scratch test, not good viewing!

For those of you that are concerned about this, please go ahead and cancel your pre-orders. That way maybe me and some others will get ours quicker.

I have not used a screen protector in forever. The glass on these phones holds up pretty darn good to everyday usage. My Nexus 6 has some very faint hairline scratches if you actually LOOK for them. Overall the screen looks pretty good.

As for cases. I totally agree. These companies spend so much time and effort to make something that looks and feels amazing in the hand out the box and then we throw bulky cases on them. I bought a Verus case that looks pretty darn sweet and is pretty minimal. I only use a case to cut down on the dings and scuffing from sliding around in my pocket or on my desk. Not for actual dropping the phone.

I really do love this case so far. and still compared to the Nexus 6 from last year the 6p feels so much smaller and lighter in the hand.

Re: 6P bend and scratch test, not good viewing!

Is that the Versus case with the aluminum band that goes around the edges of the phone? I had that for the GS6 and hated it, but yours looks like its plain TPU. Does it give a little grip?

Re: 6P bend and scratch test, not good viewing!

I'm confident it's the same phone throughout the video. You can tell during the video the Nexus logo can appear and disappear in the same shot

Re: 6P bend and scratch test, not good viewing!

The case looks great, but the Amazon reviews are a little worrisome: 3/5 stars with complaints of the charge cable not fitting and laser auto focus being blocked. Can you verify the Model?
