Nexus 6P Bluetooth Issues (With Car)

2013 Hyundai Azera w/ Tech Package & 64GB 6P on Google Fi

Phone calls cut out so bad its basically useless to attempt to make or take a call over Bluetooth. Very frustrating. The car's factory Bluetooth has worked on at least 4 other Android phones and two iOS phones I've had pared to it since July 2013. Haven't streamed music since getting the phone in Nov. Probably will on a long car trip this weekend.

Won't be getting rid of the phone in hopes that it gets better, in reality the lease is up in July and I'll just hope the new Genesis or a ES350 works better (wish either had Android Auto!).

It looks like a lot of people are having this issue so hopefully Google will fix it with the next update. 2014 Mitsubishi Evo X and 2011 Mitsubishi Outlander sport. My Evo has factory radio and the bluetooth connection is intermittent. It's on and off some of the time, then other times it works fine.

On my Outlander sport, which has an aftermarket Pioneer unit, it has trouble connecting initially and can also be intermittent, but not as much as the Evo with the factory radio.

2014 civic - note4 seemless audio and bluetooth phonecalls - also album image would load for Spotify

6p audio works well...have to often "refresh" spotify to update track info... No album art anymore though
Call handling is terrible...initiate call from contacts....starts dialing and drops audio back to phone...can usually get it to toggle back just in time for a repeated "hello???"

Received calls handle w/o any hiccups minus not finding who is actually calling

Still need to test restoring phone but suspect this is marshmallow issue

In my 2013 Mazda CX-5 prior to 6.01 when making a call it would drop the phone when it was dialing but pick it back up once the person answered the phone. Now with 6.01 it stays connected even when dialing.

The only issue is that the metadata (artist name, album, track...) doesn't always refresh but I blame that on the car, not the phone. It works fine in my wife's Prius.

Coreect I can confirm, (by the way I have the same car/year). The issue with calling in the car and not hearing the dialing has disappeared with update 6.0.1

Same was happening to me until the 6.0.1 update. The metadata is still an issue I believe.
Also, the update brought system level volume in Bluetooth, meaning if I connect to a BT speaker, changing the volume on the speaker will change the output volume on the phone and vice versa. Somewhat inconvenient at times as if I connect with the Mazda radio to stream music I have to remember to set the output level on the phone all the way up.

Noticed the issue after the UPDATE...

Ever since, I have days where it won't connect to my 2015 Nissan Murano (SL/AWD), I have to unpair and set it up all over again. Yesterday, was the 4th time.

Im having Bluetooth issues with my Lykan Hypersport 2015. My calls are ok. But my music library wouldn't sync on the infotainment system

Does your call log show up in the correct order of last placed call at the top? It seems like the call log on my tundra doesn't update properly at all. I will try and remove the phone from the head unit and the truck from the bluetooth devices and try again.

I just noticed this post but yes. It shows up correctly as well as my favorites. The only issue I have is YouTube has a 1-2 second lag in my truck but none of my other Bluetooth devices.

Nexus Six P

Mine didn't show up in order until after a couple of updates the the connectivity services and 6.0.1. Now they show up in order an my BT in my car has at least been serviceable for the last few weeks.

I haven't seen anybody post a similar issue as I'm having pairing with my 2016 Mazda 6. Every once in a while, when successfully paired, the audio plays out of the phone speakers instead of the bluetooth and the only way to fix it seems to be to restart the phone. I noticed this happens mostly when I start the car on FM and then switch to Bluetooth for audio.

Hey, dont know if youve had this resolved, but i tried all the above and it didnt work, tried doing everything. what fiixed it for me was pulling the positive terminal off the battery and keeping it off for about 5 minutes.

I was having all kinds of Bluetooth issues with my Nexus 6p and Toyota 2015 Prius V. Podcast would constantly disconnect from Bluetooth. GPS sound would stutter. Phone calls were hit or miss whether Bluetooth was still connected.

I was on 6.0.1. I recently received Google's January security update. Since receiving that update, I no longer have any Bluetooth issues. Everything works as it should.

I don't know if Google fixed something with this January security update, but I am happy again.

Man, that would be huge. I haven't heard anything but that was one of the main reasons I got rid of my 6P. I recently got a car with Bluetooth and it was hit or miss if it would be connected. So I got rid of it. I've been itching to get it back, though, and would probably buy one again if the Bluetooth was figured out.

I've noticed that I haven't had any issues with my Bluetooth since the January security update. Not sure if that's a coincidence or not.

Is Google aware of this, it's really a PITA.

Or should I look if Nissan has an update?

This is one thing that is keeping me off this phone and on my 6s Plus. If Google got this straightened out I'd be on the Nexus, but as it stands, I can't trust it.

I had the iPhone 6S 128GB, really wanted to keep it but Text was disabled, no access in my Murano.

It's actually the reason why I bought the 6P.

Yeah, I don't use that feature anyway. But I do wish I knew I would get a 6P that would function properly with my car Bluetooth. I use that all the time. My 6s Plus connects every time.

Re: Nexus 6P Bluetooth Issues

Same here. Since I got a Nexus 6P Bluetooth calls are a terrible plain in my 2015 BMW 428i Gran Coupe. Used to work fine on my Moto X 2nd Gen. Has to be Marshmallow. I have updated the phone and the car's firmware.

I posted this on the BMW forum, Bimmerpost:

"The bluetooth on my 428i Gran Coupe always worked fine until I got the new Nexus 6P phone with Android Marshmallow (v. 6.x). Despite updating the phone and the BMW's firmware, I still have calls drop off my Blueooth (they stay on the phone) and the just as randomly a few second later, pick up on Bluetooth in the car.

This is a problem because I can't hear the call and have to switch to speaker on the phone. Then it goes back to Bluetooth.

The call time on the car will start again at :00 when the call goes back to BT, but it will have been on the phone the whole time.

Also, I can dial using the car's phone/BT controls, but can't hang up with them.

This problem is being discussed a lot on Android forums. Does anyone have any advice? Has anyone taken it up with BMW?

It's gotten so bad, I unpaired my phone from my car and just use speakerphone. Sucks.

Streaming music works fine, so it's just the phone."

Anyone have any prayer that Google is addressing this? It basically destroys a major feature of the phone's functionality.
