Nexus 6P - Thoughts on the dbrand skins?

Re: Thoughts on the dbrand skins?

I'm curious too. I'd really like to find something fairly thick that sticks on the back of the 6P so that it has a textured back like the LG V10. It doesn't need to be that thick but I want some texture to help me hold the phone more easily.

I am thinking about getting skin for front of the Frost 6p. The problem is I think skin would collect lint and dust around perimeter if the front screen. There is also issue of my fingers grabbing the edges of skin. I not sure If could grow accustom to lose the feel of glass around the edges.

They are very good, stick well, easily and precisely (especially when you use a hair dryer to finish it off).

They are thin but more than enough to protect from scratches and smaller drops that would otherwise have 'dinged' the phone and also add some texture and grip - especially if you go for carbon (although the feel of that is bumpier and so down to personal preference).

They are good but I don't like their shipping mechanism, they are based in Canada and ship thru USPS. It takes close to or more than 7 days to receive here in Seattle from the place they ship. I have instances where packages didn't deliver and I need to follow up for refund or replacement. I just started using slickwraps which is kind of same but ships from Kansas and receive it around 2 days.

Re: Thoughts on the dbrand skins?

I've used and liked Dbrand on my N4 and N5. I had one on the back of my N4 almost from the start, since the glass back on the N4 scratched if you looked at it wrong and I hate cases.

On the N5 I bought one for the back after about a year, partly to change the look of the phone, partly becuase the white backed N5 did not age well.

I don't like the front or side wraps of those types of skins, but generally slapping on on the back of a phone can change the look enough, and in some cases mask/eliminate the dings the phone might have had over the course of x number of months of owning it, without needing a full on case.

Highly recommended.

Thanks for posting, I've been on the fence for picking one up and was waiting for the page to go live. Still haven't made a decision, I guess I'll see how the phone feels in hand first.

I purchase a lot of fabrics and leather-like fabrics online. I'm very surprised that dbrand doesn't offer the ability to purchase a sample packet. $2 for a pack of 1"x 1" samples plus $2 shipping would go a long way in my decision making.

Re: Thoughts on the dbrand skins?

Like the way that these look (would probably just do the red carbon fiber on the back), but I am hesitant only because I sucked at putting screen protectors on my phone and worry that I won't apply the skin properly.

The one for my Nexus 6 was very easy to apply, and the process was very forgiving.

That's good to hear. I still think that I will try the phone naked at first, but if I need a grip improvement or just want to change the look, this is the way I'll go.

I have a dbrand skin on the back of my Nexus 6. It has the cutouts for Nexus lettering and the Motorola 'M'. I had no trouble applying this. They are designed to fit very precisely and, if you follow the application videos provided on the dbrand site, you will end up doing it right.

That's exactly what I did with my 6. Decided it was just too slippery, and the dbrand skin fixed that nicely. I plan on doing the same with my 6P. You know, once I actually get it. ;)

Yeah, once I get my 6P, I'll give it a week or so naked to see if I want to skin it or not. I do like the way it looks (Aluminum if anyone cares) so a skin would be only out of grip necessity.

Exactly, it took over two weeks to receive my Note 5 skin, by the time I received it i had already returned the Note 5.

I just don't understand why they don't offer other shipping methods.

I am waiting for Slickwraps to create a skin for the 6p so I can try their skins.

I just tried to order one and it said their processing server is unable to handle my payment method (credit card)...

Re: Thoughts on the dbrand skins?

I have bought 2 dbrand skins (leather & carbon fiber) for my Note 5. They fit really well but I'm wanting a skin with more texture grip. If you don't need to worry about grip then they're pretty good. If anyone out there has tried either a dbrand or SlickWraps skin with good grip, let me know. Thanks!

Re: Thoughts on the dbrand skins?

after a year or so I'll probably get bored w the microfiber case and put on a skin with clear case.

would just do the back, probably in that black metal, carbon visor and red logo
