Nexus 6P's Google Now + Whatsapp Problem

I was working with msoon2k, and had him try sending a voice WhatsApp message through Google now after he had already turned airplane mode on on his phone. Their request went through flawlessly as if it was working like it had been up until this bug hit.

Once airplane mode was turned back off, the problem returned. It's clearly something going on with the Google servers. We pretty much have to wait for Google to push a patch at this moment.

Okay solution found! (Kudos to KillerQ for figuring this one out).

Basically, there IS NO FIX and you'll have to wait till Google fixes things server side.

PROOF:

Turn on your AIRPLANE MODE. Then run Google Now voice command on whatsapp. You'll see that everything works without an internet connection - perfectly like it should. The minute you turn off airplane mode, everything gets buggy again.

There's nothing wrong with your phones, people. This is Google's problem.

Just sit tight and wait it out.

I'm sorry I can't quite follow you. How exactly did you manage to give voice commands while in flight mode. Google Now would only tell me that google is not accessible right now due to flight mode and there fore refuse to take any commands at all. Did I miss something?

It works man. I'm on marshmallow. Even with no internet connection, Google now will work to bring up contacts, open apps, etc... anything that can be done locally on the phone - Google Now will do it.

Hi guys! I'm from Brazil and sorry for my english.

Well, like de OP, i gotta frustating on send new messages whatsapp even from my Watch (LG Urbane) and from smartphone. Before I change my Stock ROM [Note 4 5.1.1 , LG Urbane was already updated on 6.0.1 and working] until 22-march , I was sending new whatsapp message normally since end of the last year and gotta happy!

So, I reached you. Readed all post and began make some tests:

1) Factory reset on my Note 4 [now using DN5 custom rom 5.1.1 ported Note 5] and DID NOT update Google Now App;
2) Try to send a lot of NEW whatsapp messages from Google Now, WITH SUCCESS, so its not just a server problem;
3) Factory reset my Watch urbane, to sync THAT Google Now version, no success because the Android Wear requests to update de GN app version, bad.
4) Next step on smartphone, recover a GN app version before 5.10.32.19.arm [14-march] . I downloaded one from March 5.9.xx.xx, installed, try to send New wapps messages from smartphone, NO SUCCESS. Uninstalled updates GN from Applications manager and try other one from 19-february [5.8.58.16], try to send New wapp messages and SUCCESS!
4) Factory reset again my Watch Urbane, to SYNC that february version of GN app and it accepts. So , tried to send new wapp messages from smartwatch as usual, and voilá, SUCCESS!!!

5) Don't forget to unable automatic updates on Google Play app, to keep that february and stable version of Google Now app.

PS1: It appears to be a bug on new GN app version

I can confirm that Whatsapp stopped working somewhere around the 14th March as well. Unfortunately I don't think i can roll back my GN version because my phone is not rooted.

Hey guys - IT'S WORKING now.

I've not done anything special. Went to bed last night, tried it - failed. Woke up this morning and everything started going again.
It is definitely something going on over at Google's server-side.

I think so. Most of us had the issue resolve itself automatically over at Google's end. That was a few weeks back. If you're still having issues, then your problem might be one that is local to your phone.

Yeah thats bad. I tried every possible solution, cleaned whatsapp and google app cache, uninstalled and reinstalled google app and whatsapp, cleaned data and cache of contact app. It just wont work. The strange thing is everything works fine if i try to send a normal message. Any idea?
