Nexus 7 or Samsung 7.7

I have the Samsung 7 Plus and the Nexus 7 sitting here together. The Nexus has a much sharper display (as you would expect) and the colors seem quite natural if a little cool. Why we can get brightness, saturation, and all the other controls on a flat panel monitor but never on a tab or phone is just beyond me. However the sound on the Nexus is, compared to the Samsung 7+, awfuller. Granted neither of them are all that good, but of the two the Samsung is the less awful.

So I suppose it all depends on what you want from a tab. They both have their strengths and weaknesses. Overall I somewhat prefer the Nexus since I spend more time looking at it than listening to it, but the Samsung is still a very fine tab.

I have the Sammie 7.7 and put cm10 on it. Love it! :-) I bought on launch day at vzw , but the price was a hard chunk to swallow. That being said, I absolutely love this tab. It flies and is buttery smooth with cm10. Video files play very well and the display...... let's just say it is spectacular. Netflix plays quite well. Clarity is purely mind boggling. Nexus 7 is a fantastic tab and Asus is a top notch manufacturer. No knocks on that tab at all. Just wanna give my 7.7 some love too. The software upgrade and tweaks make this tablet fantastic. I am not a big person and do not have big hands, but have never felt that this tab is uncomfortable in any way. Light as a feather, yet feels sturdy and high end with the aluminum backing. Love the small bezel. Makes the screen seem bigger. SD card slot and lte make this tab a unique winner IMO. Lte is awesome and for me, a self admitted media junkie, swapping SD cards means I can have an unlimited library with me and not need to stream media and destroy battery life by doing so. On a flight, this may be an issue. I can watch 3.5 hours of Netflix before my battery gets below 50%. Awesome. All in all, I love my tab. Love the nexus too. Might have bought it myself if I didn't have this one. If a ten inch nexus drops from Asus with nexus branding, I'm gonna be first in line. :-) Just giving my gtab some love. :-) aloha!

I already had a Sammy 7.7 and bought a Gnex7 to see if I wanted to change/update. I just love the form factor of the 7.7. I believe that the 7.0 is just too narrow for me. Colors on the GNex7 is just super flat. Screen wise they just don't compare. While the GNex 7 is slightly faster, the narrow screens makes reading not as comfortable. Much more pinching and zooming.

Games look much better on the Sam7.7 than the Gnex7, color saturation is just awesome. Movies skin tones look much better, also. The Sam7.7 is slimer & lighter and will take a 64gig sd card, also.

I am not a big guy 7'7" and I hold this tablet easy with one and write with the other hand, fits in my back pocket most of the time. I carry it everywhere I go. I also have a IPad 2 that doesn't get use much. I really love my Sam7.7, but interested in the idevice at 7.85".

Battery live is just awesome lasting close to 3 days with light usages and 1 day with heavy usage.

The Bad:

Now, the Sammy 7.7 may never get update esp. from Verizon. I have also learned if updates are a priority get Gnex 7. Samsung is horrible in respect to updating their hardware. Add to that Verizon is also uber slow is providing updates. I am currently two releases behind with no update in sight. This will be my last carrier branded tablet.

Because there are so few of these out there, XDA support is pretty much non-existent.

Priced aside. I am looking for a 7inch Android Tablet.....what are you thoughts on Nexus 7 vs. the Samsung 7.7 from Verizon

I like the Samsung 7.7 but wondering if anyone had any thoughts?

7.7
LTE
Expansion Card

Nexus 7
Jelly Bean
Quad Core

The price is an issue but looking to get one off Ebay used...
I need email and watch ALOT of videos on line for training

Come on man you come to a N7 forum to ask that?

You're 7 ft 7 in.? Wow...

"When will my tablet get x update?"
"Will my tablet get x update?"

Don't be that guy. Go Nexus or go home. Nexus devices stay relevant much longer due to direct updates from Google.

Ok guys. I have to admit you were RIGHT! The N7 is HANDS DOWN after and more responsive. I bought a Galaxy 7.7 to compare. The N7 screen is brighter..ALL My videos run flawless....the 7.7 everything is lagging and the audio/voice is so off I cant even follow the training....7.7 goes back tomorrow...

The lag was the most surprising thing I experienced when I had a chance to spend some time with a Samsung 7.7. Fairly significant.
