Nexus 7 will lead Android tablets to overtake the iPad

When it comes to software, Google continues to put out far more innovation. The whole reason people switch to android is a free ecosystem and gazillions of features. 99% percent of people here switching to Android, say the same thing. They're tired of the same stale old iPhone. Comparing Rim to Apple is a pretty accurate analogy.

As to you 9 friends who have switched to Apple... what are you keeping tabs on them? Or do you just live in Appleland USA? I honestly call B.S. But maybe I'm wrong. Maybe you know the only 9 people switching to iPhone.

And we certainly can predict the doom of "I" devices. Apple is seeing demand drop for iphones sooner after a release than ever before. Apple is is seeing less than expected earnings for the first time since the the first iphone . Analysts everywhere are sounding alarm bells. Google is taking tablet market share twice as fast as it did in the mobile market. And all the while their dominance of smartphone market continues to grow.

Demand dropped on the 4s. Not exactly a revolutionary model for iPhones.

Comparable to the iPhone 3gs in sales. its not revolutionary for the customer to upgrade. Many people that have an iPhone 4 didn't bother getting an iPhone 4s.

Now when the iPhone 5 comes out you best believe it will be #1. The doom of "i" devices is all in your head and you are in denial if you think Apple is even close to losing.

HIGHLY doubtful that this will overtake the iPad, considering the most glaring strike going against it is that google is selling it only. You can buy an iPad anywhere

In a month they'll be readily available at staples, office depot, Walmart GameStop and Best buy.

The demand dropped after only 6 months. That's faster than any previous iPhone. I guess all those for all those analysts, the wall street journal for example, have it all in their heads and are in denial.

Do you really believe the Nexus tablet line will outsell the iPad line in the next two years?

Alright next dilemma: marketing

My guess would be Nexus 7 is taking market share from other android tablets like the Kindle Fire, Nook, and Galaxy Tab than from the ipad.

And if Apple does come out with a 7 inch ipad priced in the $250-$350 range, I believe Nexus 7 will be relegated to a niche product like all android tablets up to this point. I can see such an ipad being the hottest Christmas gift for children of all ages... hearts and minds...

Here is the problem with android... to many crappy models are flooding the market. You have a few good android tablets that the android lovers know about. But then u got the models that are being sold on team buy and for under 100 dollars in a department Store.

Apple does it right by releasing pretty much one model phone and one model tablet. Saying to consumers that there is no need for confusion . The fact that apple stands up to the competitors with one phone and One tablet is outstanding. They spend all their time perfecting one model. Unlike android that is put on a few good models, but many crappy ones as well.

Too bad that's losing them market share every day. Apple computer: There is no need for confusion. You are too stupid to choose what you really want.

It didn't work in the computer market and it's not working here.

..yet OEMs want to streamline... and be more like Apple. It really is amazing that Samsung was able to basically pull off what Apple's been doing since they've entered the phone market. The GSIII physically being the same phone on all carriers is a great win for Samsung and takes a little bit of power away from the carriers.

Just saying. :)

I know I just said let this thread die, but dude... You really think Android tablets will outsell iPads? Android tablets struggle to sell right now, with the exception of the N7. And most of that is just perception because not enough were made for the demand. If there wasn't a rumor of a 7" iPad, I'm sure more N7's would be selling.

And I'm not saying one tablet is better than the other; that's subjective. For some, Android fits their needs and budget, for others the iPad does what they need it to.

Yep, Apple's not in it to make money. I suppose the 38 billion dollars they made this year was just a nice bonus for their charitable work. HAHAHAh! That's not, you know, WRITTEN by an Apple employee. If I every had any inclination to take you seriously, it just went out the window. I suppose they donate the 4000 dollar markup they make on EACH Mac pro to a good cause. Apple makes more profit per device sold than any other computer/ smartphone maker in the world. Lol, man. You need to stop drinking the kool-aid.

Thank you. You beat me too it. Apple is in it for the money nothing else. How can you explain a macbook pro that has same specs as pc laptop that go for 600 dollers but they want 2500. Even with retna display. Its a 900-1000 laptop at best. Ivs is a blatant liar. But not really his fault, isheep would give their first born and their mother along with their entire contents of their bank account to own the latest and over rated apple P. O. S device.

Who cares? I don't see a point in your post other then to profile people and call them names because they prefer once laptop over another. Do you buy coke or Pepsi? Ford or Chevy? Charmin or Cottonelle? Get what I'm saying?

I buy what I like. I'm typing this on my iPad while my N7 sits next to me. Maybe next post I'll use the N7.

I am sorry for the way I phrased it but apple products especially their computers and laptops are way over priced compared to the competition with similar specs. And yes only fan boys and girls can justify being ripped off like that. Apple is nothing more then a marketing company and people fall for their bull. Jobs basically said the iphone is revolutionary. Sorry he pilfered features and ideas from palm and Blackberry. Added a touch screen and a camera while dumbing down a os and he acted like he created the cell phone. Give me a break. I am really sorry the mass public fell for it. To your point about consumers get and use what they want. I agree their is nothing wrong with that. I am just one of the more intelligent ones not falling for apples bull and therefore don't own any of their products. Till they start pricing stuff fairly I will never own an apple product period. Flame me all you want, as I have more brains then cash unlike some.

I'm not a market guru or fortuneteller. But I will tell you this much. Since I got into Android, my iPad2 has been more or less idle. Then I got the 7 and the iPad has not been even so much as turned on in weeks. For me, it's just better.

I do, but I don't believe this is a death knell for Apple.

Apple would have to be desperate indeed to build an iPad with anything approaching a 7" screen for less than $250. More likely they'll be $350, and Apple will make a healthy margin on them and make plenty of money even if they only sell a few million of them.

Meanwhile, in the Android space, there will be iPad competitors that are built solidly with lots of features, and there will be cheap near-disposable tablets. And there will be things like the Nexus 7 that represent a middle ground - built to a budget but built reasonably well, but lacking a few features that some people want (rear-facing camera, etc). But at a price where it's in most people's reach.

Let's face it, for most of us the tablet represents a media consumption toy. Those who can afford and really want the expensive models will buy an iPad or a Galaxy Tab 10. Those who want a completely disposable thing they can take on the road (like my father in law) will buy a $120 Pandigital or similar that works just fine for web browsing and reading books and the like. And those of us who want something in the middle will snag something like the Nexus.

Apple will have no problem selling out of an iPad Mini, but that doesn't mean Google will have any problem selling out of the Nexus for quite some time. The $200-300 7" full-featured tablet market is a new niche that Google pretty much just created with the Nexus (just like Apple first created the niche for the 3" and 10" fondleslabs). For at least a year, everyone is going to struggle to fill that niche.

Google's creation of that niche gives them a head start, but there are plenty of people with iPhone and iPads and enough disposable income to say "you know, I'd like something like the iPhone but with a bigger screen and something like the iPad but more portable".

I'm not real sure Google created this niche. But they sure are exploiting it! Samsung has a really nice 7" tab in the same space - the Galaxy Tab 7. It's arguably better than the 7 in some ways and retails for about the same price. It has better sound and a rear facing camera, if anyone cares about that camera :) Amazon has their Fire but that, while it is an Android tab, is very definitely purpose built to tie solidly to Amazon. So it's audience is narrower than the 7. Somehow Google has grabbed the attention of the 7" tab buyer with a product that is not quite as good as a competitors. Maybe this will get Samsung to actually do something *new*, which to me would be exciting. I know they have the tech to upgrade the Tab 7 to JB and a better display. Maybe add a faster processor. Right now they are lagging in the tablet space in both 7 and 10" models, and that's going to hurt them.
