Using a large phone is certainly not for everyone, which is fine. There are a lot of good smartphones in a smaller size.

I disagree with this. The only good smartphone in this smaller size range is the iPhone. Any other phone in this size range (4-4.7 inches) is very underpowered or won't be supported that much.

As for tablets, I've heard good things about the Microsoft Surface Pro 3. It's basically a laptop in tablet form. I guess the only drawback is that it can be expensive. For a little bit more money, it might be worth it to simply get a small laptop, like a Macbook Air.

Yeah the Surface Pro 3 is nice. That price is high when you factor in the keyboard too, so it would be comparable in price to a MacBook Air.

It appears that other companies are abandoning that part of the market to Apple. Is there a way to communicate to the manufacturers that there is a demand for high-performance smartphones with a smaller screen size?

Sadly this is true for me too. I am considering getting an iPhone as soon as I have the cash. No other good smartphone in the 4-4.7 inch range on Verizon.

If you can live with the software(which I can, I like iOS) I think it is the best allrounder. It has a good screen, great battery life, great camera and its nice and comfortable to hold.

I would have LOVED to see a 2014 4.7" Moto X but oh well.

It isn't getting Android L to my knowledge. I realize I need a reliable phone that would be updated for a year or more. I am in college and pockets and that deep, but I also have my size preference.

I don't know what I want to get honestly, but as far as devices go in that size range on Verizon go, the iPhone 6 is the best.

I have an iPad Air 2 and love it . I also would like am iPad mini sized tablet since I think 7 inches is getting to close to my Samsung galaxy note 4 . I am lukewarm interest in the nividia shield tablet and interested in the nexus 9 or mildly interested in the iPad mini ( new iPad mini is just a re branded 2 and not that excited for it ).


Nexus 9 I am leaning toward but is it more portable then the iPad ?

I wouldn't call the surface pro 3 a mobile platform ....it's not really mobile and basically is a small laptop with no keyboard attached

You have an odd definition of "mobile" then.

The Surface Pro 3 is a tablet with a mobile processor. A 64-bit processor as well, mind you.

So you're saying because the Surface Pro 3 has a beastly Intel i7 with the same nomenclature as desktop CPUs, it does not count as a "mobile" CPU because it's in another league of performance?

Windows itself isn't "mobile" no matter how Microsoft or you want it to be. And putting an Intel i7 is cpu inside a piece of electronic putting on a touchscreen doesn't make it mobile .... There is a reason why Microsoft wanted to use ARM CPUs in windows 8 RT and not an Intel i5 or i7.

The K1 and A8X GPU I think betas the HD4400 so it isn't too far of the HD5000.

ARM is the future whether or not you like it.
