Nexus Awake 100% of the time (Global Issue)

i was reading somewhere that if you press power to put it into sleep mode it won't go into sleep correctly....just let it turn itself off after whatever time you have set it to turn the screen off...see what happens then....seems to have alleviated the awake issue a bit for me

I regularly press the power button to turn mine off and mine does not show as constantly being awake.

I don't have this issue on either of my nexus phones especially not the GSM one. The GSM model's battery is excellent compared to the VZW model.

FWIW, I use Google+ a lot and don't have this issue. It's definitely not a G+ specific issue.

.

Other forums and my own experience disagree

What version are you on? Have you updated?

I'm running 2.3.0.240337 right now. Auto updating. It's probably a multitude of factors that cause the problem. I have G+, but not the other factors, so I'm not affected. The app all by itself is not a problem for me. Rooted running 4.0.2.

10 hours 22 minutes battery life...9 hours 22 minutes keep awake time. Something is definitely not right.

I have Google+ 2.3.0.240337 as well.

I am having the same problem with my phone staying awake. The longest battery life I have been able to achieve on my phone is 9hr 10mins. Thats with wifi, bluetooth, and 4G off. This is extremely poor for any phone.

Interesting...maybe I'm just having google+ problems as well. I turned it back on and bam, its chewing through battery... and I've never even opened it after the reinstall.

No problems here. Consistently getting fourteen to sixteen hours. And still have google plus. First couple of days were kinda bad like eight to ten hours. But now I have settled into a normal routine. Good luck and look at your apps.

Yeah..I was the exact same until I updated G+...

Odd. The only thing I can think that's different is that I actually rebooted the phone for the first time since I rooted it on the 16th. Its been rock solid.

Oh..and I don't really have any apps. Not a game guy and I don't have much use for anything not stock right now

In the settings/battery, I was also noticing significantly more awake time > screen time... where the blue bars don't overlap! Day by day, I have been slowly uninstalling certain apps/services that were constantly running (ie, email sync, officesuite, etc). I FINALLY found the cupit for me... after uninstalling Accuweather, my awake and screen blue bars have been almost identical for 24h now.

hurr durr. you are funny. troll elsewhere

Sorry. I jumped to the conclusion that he was referring to the phone staying on while it was asleep vs. Permanently off. By the post, I couldn't tell if they were a new user not used to the phone staying on while asleep. I assumed that it was normal, since we can get updates and other functions while it is asleep. I am not trolling. I had the Nexus. I'm keeping posted of its pros and cons as I would like to own it again when the issues in my area are resolved. Sorry to upset you.

If you really need a weather app of your phone (I use the weather channel app myself along with beautiful widgets' clock and weather widget so I can get weather alerts too) you should be able to set the refresh time for the app higher from inside the app. I set mine to refresh once every hour and I don't have any problems with it.

On another note, I was having really bad battery life too. My battery was draining in about 9 hours and I was barely touching my phone, and my keep awake bar looked very similar to the OP's. A complete power down cycle greatly improved my battery life. It was like something in android was keeping the phone awake, like a glitch, and the power cycle fixed it. I average 18 hours now with my normal every day usage.

If by some chance the keep awake problem is memory related, it could explain why a power cycle is fixing it. it could also explain some of the issues with the phones rebooting from time to time. Mine has rebooted itself 3 times since launch. Better battery life after each one.

I've uninstalled the updates for Google+ and disabled auto updates but still have the app installed. So far I think this is keeping my awake time down. It's still not one to one with screen on but it's getting better.

Disabling g+ fixed 90% of my problem, Uninstalling Facebook got the other 10%

For anyone following this I isolated this issue to a single app.

Prey Anti-Theft

It was keeping the phone awake 100% of the time. I found an alternate which has much more functionality and even more features without the battery drain. It is called Android Lost. Check it out.

After I disabled Google+ and restricted background data for Facebook, my OS awake and Screen On times are roughly identical. I just have the screen on too much! ;)

This happened with my Xiaomi Redmi Note 3. It was awake 95%+ or even 100% and android system/system would consistently be taking up CPU or wasting battery. The battery would drain 20% overnight even I had nothing running and no wifi on. Even after a factory reset, the issue continued.

After switching my launcher from the MIUI to Nova Launcher (others should work as well), it seems my phone has significantly less wake %. I've only been using the launcher for a few hours so it's not a for sure solution, but it's the only thing that has effectively alleviated/fixed the problem so far.

Good luck!
