Hello everyone, I was just wondering if there's any chance AT&T will get the a Nexus device as part of its smartphone lineup? I've been waiting for the S3 but after seeing Jelly Bean on the Galaxy Nexus, I've decided it's what I want my next smartphone to be. The only way to get a Nexus on AT&T is to buy it from the PlayStore. However, it costs $350 before tax and only runs on HSPA+. If I'm going to spend that much money, I want it to be at least on LTE.

a LTE gnex can be had for under $80 subsidized. IMHO popping the $350 for the unlocked HSPA+ version is the way to go. You get faster updates and you can be your own cell service by using prepaid sims and switching services as you see fit. Port your existing number to google voice and go to town. Doing this has saved us considerably over a contracted monthly obligation, well worth the increased outlay at the beginning for an unlocked/unbranded device. We are currently under a contract and will be switching back to prepaid services when we're out of contract. It was nice to get the gnex with LTE but if I had to do it again I would've gone HSPA+

I doubt AT&T will get the Nexus any time soon. That's why I pulled the trigger and got it unlocked. So worth it, even without LTE speeds.

Not as big a deal for me anyway, because I don't use the data networks very much - almost always on WiFi.

It's an amazing phone, and it's going to become incredible with JB. Go pure Google, get it from the Play Store...

LTE is not great anyways. Ask some Verizon people with the lte nexus about radio problems etc. lol

Ehhhh sorry but lte isn't the reason the nexus has or had bad radios Samsung is the only thing lte kills is battery life and even that's changing with the new phones coming out

Meh I've yet to see the GSM models have the same issues that the LTE variants all seem to have unless you live next to a tower.

LTE is still a maturing tech. I'm not sure the need for it since HSPA+ is plenty fast for most peoples needs in the near term. No sense trying to buy a future proof phone in this kind of market.

When LTE is more mature, battery technology improved and greater coverage in a year or 2, its time to get a new phone anyway.

Yeah, it all depends on the area that you are in too. Verizon's LTE is not good in my area even with a full signal so I went with the HSPA+ Nexus, which happens to be very fast on AT&T in the area that I live work and travel in.

You could buy a subsidized phone and sell it for around $500 which would make it close to $300 profit, then buy the nexus and only have spent around $250 total. That's still a lot and no lte but maybe save yourself and someone else a little cash.

I'm good with my choice of buying a GNex from google play and using a straight talk att sim to get unlimited w no contract for 45/mo :)

*swyped from the evo so excuse any typos*

I want to leave Verizon soooo bad, I have a vzw gnex and I ordered an international white gnex I have here at home but I feel I will regret getting rid of my unlimited data in the future.

I'm in the same situation. I don't want to give up my unlimited plan on my GNex and LTE is great in my area. I'd go the HSPA+ route otherwise.

I'm about to put my order in this week for the Nexus. Especially now that it has JB running, it's faster than most phones out now. Besides my area doesn't have LTE from at&t..
