Nexus S vs EVO/EVO 3D

I don't think that the specs are outdated at all. Dual core doesn't really mean much right now as others from the Atrix forums are finding out. The Nexus S is a great device. Now compared to my EVO, I wouldn't go for it. I am one of the few that doesn't care for a "vanilla Android" experience. I like Sense. I didn't realize how much I liked Sense until I had experienced some other Android skins. The EVO is where its at. I'm not looking forward to 3D either. I am curious as to the file size of these 3D videos however.

Not that I'm a proponent of the Nexus S - but regarding Sense, you do realize that you could pretty much get the same if not better experience with LauncherPro, Beautiful Widgets and Widgetsoid, don't you?

Yeah thats what i think...no need for dual core unless it has some super battery saving feature.Im on contract right so im seeing how to get out of contract and get the phone at the subsidized price. I have been with sprint for 7 years so i really dont care about the bootleg premiere they are running.

I'm going to bold go and say I'm leaning toward the Nexus because:

1- I own the Epic, love the hardware, hate the Samsung Software
2- It's GOOGLE'S phone.... Long term support?
3- Thinking about it, dual core? If google's phone is single core... are dual core phones going to be looked at over google's actual phone when they look to make new software? (Again, LTS)

Pure, no BS. No SD Card either. Bothers me... but I have the 16gb sd card and I'm no where near full unless I fill up movies. But it's not that serious. Swap back and forth.

I'm leaning towards buying 2 when I add a line. Of course, I am still looking deeply into that Evo 3D....

Don't believe the Nexus S 4G will have sd card slot- and I have heard the Nexus doesn't have LED flshing notification of emails, text, etc. Might be a deal killer.

It is a deal breaker for me! The lack of LED notifications that is. Its down to the Pre 3 or Evo 3D for me. Bought the HTC Arrive on Friday and already am taking it back because I hate the lack of features on WP7. Back on my Pre minus for now!

I'd rather have no LED than deal with a 4.3" monster. So far NxS4G is my frontrunner, but we'll see

I think I'm leaning towards the Nexus S. The weight, size, and fact that the Evo probably will not be out for months after the Nexus are the reasons. But on the other hand the Evo does have more cutting edge specs. So confused.

I've never been so confused in my life.

I'm just as torn!! Don't much care about the 3d on the new Evo, but the specs are amazing! Really like the Nexus S 4G too & the fact that it will be out so much earlier is a bonus also. Suppose I could always sell it towards the Evo after it comes out, if the Evo is really that much better. What really sucks is I really wanted a new WebOS phone, but HP seems to be refusing to release a 4" slab style phone, let alone any phone at all in any reasonable time frame.
Decisions, decisions! :)

right. when I first heard 3d I said ill pass unless it has dual core. was almost hoping it didn't to make things easier.

then it didn't list 4g... but it is 4g. ah!!!!!!!!!! I think I'm going to wait it out. I already have the epic so I know how that phone is going to be minus the Samsung bugs.

I actually wanted to trade for the evo but have been waiting for this day to come. so I think all the specs with 3d just beats it out right.

In the fine print on Sprint's page it says $399 2-year contract price -$200 instant rebate, which would make the phone $549 off contract when the $150 2-year contract discount is added in.

Which would also make the phone about $650-700 off contract at Best Buy

But if you look at what the pricing says on the Echo, does it not look like Sprint is going towards instant rebates? This is like the 3rd device specific site I have seen that says "Instant" instead of "Mail In".

Also does anyone know if the Nexus S will be available in corporate stores?

As far as I know the Nexus S is going to be a Best Buy retailer exclusive

I thought it was Sprint Stores and Best Buy, but nobody else. Has Sprint ever come out with a phone that was not available in it's own corporate store?

The phone will be sold in all Sprint stores

When they mention Best buy as exclusive retailer that just means that only Best buy will be able to sell the phone besides Sprint. So you wont be able to purchase the Nexus from Radioshack, Walmart, Amazon, etc

OK, that was my understanding as well

Probably going to be getting this at the off contract price since i'm going to loose my premier upgrade that would have happened in July. After seeing the Evo 3d I'm really not that impressed, not sure why but I'm just underwhelmed by it. Plus I really want to be able to get updates first and not have to root to get rid of Sense. My fiance has been bugging me to get a new phone for a couple months now so she can have my Evo and not have to use her (pink) Intercept that looks like it's for a 12 year old kid.

^^^Im with you on that. Wasn't impressed with the Evo 3D either, and im ready for a change. My Evo 4G has been a trooper since day one, but i dont think i can get used to the battery life. Itll be good to have a phone thats first on updates and hopefully not full of bloatware from Sprint. That and im interested in having a slimmer/sleeker phone. Will have this on day one

I actually like the bloatware by Sprint. Nascar is the only thing that I don't like. I love Sense. I prefer it over vanilla Android.

App space

I was looking at the Nexus S at Best Buy and noticed it only had 1G space allocated for applications. Is this all the space out of the 16G that you can use for Apps? If so this is a deal breaker for me.
