Nexus1 2.1 apps now available for Droid, no root necessary.

love new google maps. also noticed you can star locations in this version; may have been in the last one, but i dont remember seeing it if it was.

fingers crossed for ptz browser soon!

I downloaded it once before and it worked fine. Since then, I uninstalled it. I then reinstalled it but it won't give me a prompt when I hit the Home key. I see the download was successful.

Help

Hey gang. I have all of these apps ported over and I see Motorola is officially launching 2.1 this week. Do I need to remove my ported programs in order for the upgrade to go through smoothly? Thanks.

No, these are not saved in system apps. They can easily be deleted before or after the update.

You're 100% safe. but i'd delete all except for the Launcher app so that i no longer have multiple identical apps. You can alway do this after the update though so you dont have to go without for the next couple of days.

The update is supposedly not going to include 5 homescreens or the 3D app launcher.

Droid 2.1 will probably be able to run the ported 2.1 launcher more smooth, so that won't be as much of an issue anymore.

Any word on Flash 10.1?

No Flash in the update.

I installed the new Launcher, and liked everything about it except for the fact that I lost all my icons (which I knew was going to happen so no biggie) but then also lost my ability to rename Icons; a feature I love about DXtop. I uninstalled it for now. Little stuff like that just bugs me (having icon names that stray off the edge).

You certain on the no 5 homescreens? All that I have heard is that its not going to get the 3D-Rolodex launcher, no word on the screens.

Is the new gallery and the clock included in the 2.1 update ? If not , can we still port the rest of the goodies over from the N1 ?

here is something to play with until we see the updates roll out, the 2.1 Launcher for the Droid has gotten a upgrade.

Go to AllDroid - View topic - [release]Launcher2 Ported to 2.0.1, v1.1b *UPD 2/08/10*
and you can choose between two new versions. they both work very well. They never force close and they have a couple more secrets in them that make them extra great. ie. (dedicated phone, apps(two different kinds), and browser icons) just like the HTC hero or Eris. and open folders are larger with slightly smaller icons so you can view more. 3D app launcher is very smooth. their may be more additions, but not that i have noticed. a better version is planned to fix the last remaining bugs and shrink size down.
