No Flash at launch!

Idon't think that's a big thing. I'm sure there will be an update within 2 weeks. Nothing to be worried about I think.

the iPad did not have multitasking at launch. the iPhone did not have cut and paste for several generations and still does not have flash support yet people buy it.

I agree that you should never buy something on promised features( i.e. 4g), but I do believe Flash support was promised, now retracted at the last minute.

This OTA update...will we be able to get it via wifi? Or will it be required to have a data sub with Verizon to get the OTA? How will other updates be pushed out? Because I plan on cancelling my data plan as soon as I get home with it, making it wifi only.

No Biggie

I am not planning on dropping that much cash on a tablet. Let's see who else can get their products out. Competitive pricing, comparable hardware and not tied to a mobile carrier. At least Apple gave their customers a choice of going wifi only.

You'll have the choice of going WiFi-only, you'll just need to wait. Apple didn't launch all versions of the iPad at once. The WiFi versions came first, and the 3G versions came a month or so later.

This is from the XOOM User Manual: "If network updates are not available in your country, you can update using a computer. On your computer, go to Motorola Home - Motorola USA and check the ?Software? links. If an update is available, simply follow the installation instructions."

I would guess that would apply to wifi only models, too. If your device doesn't have a 3G data connection, it's essentially a wifi version.

By the time they get flash ready and a hardware change (up-grade to 4) they will have the new (x1 ???) coming out. I'm waiting.

This reminds me of the Froyo update mess on the X at launch. Same situation, promised flash by end of summer. What a fustercluck that was.
I'm hanging on to my iPad for now. If all is good then this thing is on eBay in a heartbeat and I'm getting a xoom.

I've read all the posts on this thread and I'm disappointed that the Xoom won't have Flash at launch but I'm still going to pick up my pre-order on Thursday. I do agree that the price is pretty high but considering all of the other Android tablets on the market today I feel it's a premium worth paying for at this time. I've been waiting for a solid 10" Android tablet, it's finally almost here.

Wouldn't this come through the Market like for Froyo/GB? If not, it should be an apk that can be side loaded. This should not even need to come OTA, IMO.
