(Yes, anybody can flash JB to their VZW Galaxy Nexus... no need to bring that up again)

There's no word from anybody about official OTA JB for the VZW Galaxy Nexus.
I think it's becoming very clear that Google and Verizon don't give a rat's [rear end]
about VZW Galaxy Nexus owners.

HTC has just announced that OTA JB will be coming soon for all HTC One phones.
Isn't that another slap in the forehead for us?

I agree. I was waiting and giving Verizon a chance, but it's been weeks since Jellybean was announced. I'm going to finally ditch my CDMA and get a pure Nexus from the play store to activate on T-Mobile's pay as you go plan.

Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2

Leave Verizon and get GSM service! ATT/Tmo/Prepaid is the way to go! I love att because I can always buy any phone to use. Including the Gnex!

Spoke to a Verizon Store manager on Friday while I was activating my warrnaty replacement. She said that the JB update will be coming in the next couple months for Nexus users.

Re: no JB OTA for GN, but all HTC One phones are confirmed to get

You don't have 'official word' because its already fact that the VZ GN will get Jellybean. Its still a nexus and it will still receive OTA's going well into next year as well. I know a dozen people are going to want to jump on me for most of that statement but its a fact and I'm not going to debate facts with anyone.

It is also probably safe to assume that Verizon was given access to the OTA around mid-July when it became available for every other nexus, so now you just need to wait for their approval, which might take some time, of course. But to say you need official word that its coming or to think that it might not be is just incorrect.

I'm glad you said it! Plus I'm willing to bet that the VZW JB OTA before any HTC, Samsung, or Motorola phone. I'm always willing to bet that it will be coming much sooner than a "few months".

Re: no JB OTA for GN, but all HTC One phones are confirmed to get

I think what people need to realize is that the whole "Nexus phones get the updates first and soonest!" thing really only pertains to the ones that aren't at the mercy of the carriers, like Verizon. The Verizon GNex will likely get most (or all) of the future OTA updates, but because of Verizon's handling, testing, etc. of the updates, the process is going to take a lot longer.

Is it disappointing that Verizon can't get the updates out quicker? Sure. But whether you choose to do so or not, Nexus phones were pretty much made to be rooted, and played around with, and once you do that, you can have all the updates and tweaks, and everything, ASAP.

Re: no JB OTA for GN, but all HTC One phones are confirmed to get

I hope the Onex/s get JB before the verizon nexus.....and even the S3 gets it first..

then maybe....just maybe, it will piss off enough people on the forums to finally unlock and root away...thus getting rid of these ridiculous posts all together.

yes the GSM nexus phones will get JB first....then the verizon one second...then everything else. if the Verizon nexus takes 2 months to get it....the HTC,moto and samsung phones will be at least 4 months out.

but if you are REALLY worried about it.....unlock and Flash away....no reason not to unless it is for work security reasons.

Re: no JB OTA for GN, but all HTC One phones are confirmed to get

Really I have no interest in seeing this become yet another "just root already" and "flashers vs non-flashers" threads (and you know I'm a huge proponent of unlocking and flashing stuff, lol). OP had a specific question/concern which has been addressed now. If anyone has more to contribute toward that specific concern, then by all means, continue discussion, but lets keep this on track gentlemen :)

This.

Let's not let the thread devolve into this.

For the OP, Verizon has never and will never work that way. They won't announce until it's ready to be pushed. It's a given "we" are getting Jelly Bean. We have one extra layer of testing--the carrier level--but HTC and other devices have 2 layers--carrier and manufacturer.

This discussion is not going to devolve into the pros and cons of rooting (also, warranties become voidable, not voided--there's a difference). Thanks.

How new to Android are you? This happens with every release. OF COURSE HTC is going to say that their flagships are going to get JB; otherwise, people would be afraid to buy them.

I'm pretty sure the Rezound owners were told the same thing about ICS when their phone was new.

Exactly. If you notice, every new flavor of Android that is announced, HTC is almost always the first to say that all of their phones will get it. That was the case with ICS. Of course, they do this, most likely, so existing sales don't take a hit.

Re: no JB OTA for GN, but all HTC One phones are confirmed to get

Confirmation for other handsets and carriers gives us some sense of a timeframe for our update, since we "should" get it first; or, in this case, second or third after GSM and WLAN only devices. I would think this places more pressure on Verizon to move faster since we're in effect holding everyone else back...

pressure on Verizon? that's very unlikely.... Verizon is the size of an elephant and
we the consumers are the size of ants(or maybe grasshoppers).

Quite right. Still, AOSP devices will get it first. The Verizon Galaxy Nexus is an AOSP device. Thus...:)

I'll be perfectly honest.... I've tried JB on my GN, as well as the Nexus 7.

For about 90% of the stuff that I do daily on the Galaxy Nexus,
I don't notice any difference beween ICS and JB. :D

It's like.. well... my wife is hot enough... she doesn't need a boob job.
She's perfect as is and I have no wish for any part of her to get any
bigger. I mean she wouldnt' want me to waste money and make any
part of me to get bigger.

To each their own. I tried it as soon as the first ports dropped (including ones that didn't have working data) and it was so good I never even considered going back to ICS. It's faster, more responsive, a bit slicker, a whole lot cleaner, and more mature. Google Now is always amazing and an absolutely vital and "mission critical" app for me at the moment.

But again, to each their own :).
