No lock on the GPS

Just got my Captivate today. Out of the box there was no joy in gps-ville. Just applied the fix on page one and had a lock in literally 3 seconds. Very very thankful.

Great news! Could you please post ALL of you GPS settings. I have monkeyed with all my setting so much I am not sure what the original defaults were. I know the basics but I am sure I have tweaked something else that needs to be reset

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but the same thing happened to me with my phone (after I returned it and got another). Subsequently, the GPS lock has been spotty at best.

Certainly: after dialing *#*#1472365#*#* under the tab Application Settings I have Session Type=Tracking, Test Mode=S/W Test, Operation Mode= MS Based,
Start Mode=Hot Start, GPS Plus=On, Dynamic Accuracy=On and Accuracy=50.
Under SUPL/CP Settings I have Server FQDN Type=Custom Config, Server=supl.google.com, Server Port=7262, SUPL Secure Socket=On, and AGPS Mode=SUPL.

Also, under Settings>Location and Security, Use Wireless Networks is checked as is Use GPS Satellites.

After applying the mentioned fix I get a lock (indoors) almost instantly. Now, the accuracy is about a block off from my actual location (while indoors) but will be testing outdoors in just a bit.

Thanks!

It did not help me but thanks none-the-less. :(

Ok! Just spoke to Samsung Level 3 tech support and that short answer was.. "Exchange your phone". There was NO mention of any new OTA patch/fix. I asked that specifically. She mentioned that there were a couple of new internal emails discussing the need to make sure Wifi and GPS were both checked in the Setting under Location & Security. (Really?? No Shi!t?) grrrr!

I am not posting this to say anyone else's info is wrong but rather to convey what I just heard. I am going to call again and see if I get a different answer before I return my phone.

Please post of you have similar or different experiences.

OK. Ready for this? I decided to perform a "Factory Reset" on my phone in advance of returning it. For giggle though I rebooted while sitting outside. You will never guess what occurred... Sat lock on 9 count them NINE satellites. Downloaded Google Nav and it seems to work well. I lose lock every so often but it re-acquires it. I am using the ORIGINAL GPS info as well as using WIFI under Location and Security. I am going to run like this for a bit then if it get bad again I will try the FIX post at previously at AC.

You might try it! Who knows?!

I think we should let one of these threads die, instead of dual-posting in each of them.
I vote to kill this one.
