No micro sd slot? Shocking if this is true.

Thanks for this, didn't know that was avaialable, will have to check it out. My understanding was that you had to pay monthly subscriptions for storage services. I know that dropbox only gives you 2gb of free storage. Do you need an internet connection to access it?

I have been eagerly awaiting the release of this phone and I was assuming that it would have a micro sd slot which is essential for me. However from the reports I have been reading today regarding the leaked specs, it would seem that there may not be a micro sd slot. If this is the case, it's absolutely appalling and would be a deal breaker for me.

Why would they make such a spanking phone but not include such a vital feature? Senseless. The only reason I haven't gone out and bought the G2 is because it has no expandable memory and I assumed the new phone would have.

There will be expandable storage. However it's not as big of a deal you make it out to be. I moved to the G2 from devices that had SD slots and I don't miss it. Internal storage isn't an issue and I do not ever worry about running out of space. Additionally using cloud storage services more than makes up for not having an SD slot. For the majority of users sd expansion is not essential. If you happen to be someone who needs that option then look for devices with it.

I'm so tired of people still holding onto their sd cards like its 2012. With KitKat SD cards are useless.

How is it useless ..... folder Mount in app store fixes it right back to what it was before. .. Still useful

The average user isn't going to root there devices. So those apps are useless.

That's the spirit, get rid of SD card slots since everyone has wifi access or unlimited data at all times. Android is about having choices. Off the grid storage is a powerful option to have and I hope it doesn't go away.

Yeah that's right also drop floppy disk, cassets, CD, n DVD. Oh that's right we already have.

Yep SD will be replaced one day by something as well. Isn't technology great?

Yes it will but then we will have enough storage in the phone that it won't matter ... If they offered 64 gb I wouldn't care about sd but some don't even give you the chance for more than 16 gb

According to specs taken directly off an LG U.K. website, the soon to be announced*LG G3*is expected to feature a microSDslot*with a capacity of 2 Terabytes. Each Terabyte is equivalent to 1024 Gigabytes, so you can see just how much additionalstorage*the phone can handle. Of course, since a*2TB*card does not yet exist, there is the possibility that someone at LG made a blunder when transcribing the specs.

The detail of a 2TB micro SD card not having been made is just a technicality, if someone were to make one it would work. However, it is also quite likely it would work on pretty much any Android phone with a micro SD slot, since the Linux kernel driver (which Android uses) has supported that capacity for years, but most manufacturers won't advertise capacities they haven't tested.

It amazes me how many people are "assuming" various things about the G3. While the leaks all look valid we will know on Tuesday what is actually in the G3. Personally, I don't think LG is going to throw out all of their stacked battery technology (that allows them to fit the most battery in the least amount of space) to offer a removable battery in the G3. With 32 GB you will have more than enough space for most people (99% - doesn't count the hard core people on this site) and that 1% they are willing to allow them to go to Samsung or HTC. Same with the removable battery - it allows them to have a thinner, lighter phone that will have better construction than one with removable battery and micro SD card slot. Most people are OK without removable battery (most ultrabooks, all tablets and a lot of phones come this way and I don't see people agonizing over the Nexus 7 or G Pad 8.3). Finally, one thing to remember about LG is it supports USB OTG and there are some inexpensive 2 way (USB 3.0 on one end and micro USB on the other) that are excellent for expansion. I bought a 64 GB Patriot Stellar model for $24 that is less than one inch long and less than 1/2" thick that works quite well. If you don't like the design of the G3 then buy something else and stop whining about what it doesn't have. Personally, I thought 1080P was overkill for a smartphone and I was (and still am) amazed by how good the screen is on my G2. If the G3 is too big (the G2 is at the edge, for me, of in hand sized) I may pick up a brand new G2 for free to get me through the next year (my wife loves her feature phone so I get to upgrade every year. Verizon charges me for my subsidy - no reason to save it.

Have you ever heard of cloud storage? Ever have an SD Card go up in smoke (Samsung S3 twice). You couldn't give me a free Sapsung S5 for my G2...just saying.

LoL. cloud storage is junk.

I think I understood what I just read, and I'm concerned you thought this was feasible for this phone.

While possible that they made a mistake, I think it is more likely is just a matter of the SD subsystem being capable of addressing memory up to 2TB. That is a common limit for certain file systems, both Windows and Unix based.

MicroSD is-essential-for me. I am not always near WiFi and I am not going to pay AT&T for more expensive data for such mundane purposes as streaming my own music and videos...even if the storage itself is actually free. AT&T disabled the FM radio on the G3 because for them it represented a media steam that they could not profit from. Greed. The other issue is that if the phone bricks-you can still pull the micro SD and all your user data and media.
