No more SD slot?

too bad samsung does not sell mods that you can plug into the phone to add sd cards and even mst.

I have a portable hard drive set up so I can use it as a backup and to transfer music and ebooks to/from my phone and to/from my laptop as well. Don't find myself using that much anymore as most of the stuff is available through streaming now.

I wouldn't rely on the SD card for anything I wanted to preserve. What if the SD card suddenly becomes unreadable, or if the whole phone gets lost or stolen? Plus I encrypt everything, including the SD card, so the card would be useless if the phone died. Cloud sync is a must.

Anything I have on my SD card is replicated on my home computer, namely audio files. It can go bad or be stolen. I don't really care in the context of lost data. There won't be any.

I might add, in years of using SD cards I have never had one go bad and cause me a loss of data. Usually, I only get rid of them to upgrade to a higher storage space, which is always going to be a more efficient deal than buying a larger size phone.

I was able to survive and had some workarounds when they eliminated removable batteries. This is going to be a lot harder for me. It is going to affect my update schedule.

I required an SD card back in the days of strict data caps and 16Gb phones but I honestly don't use the SD Card slot on my Note 8/9 or N20U. My Note 8 is the 64Gb model and after 2 1/2 years only used about 45Gb.

My 128Gb N20U still has over 90Gb free after putting everything I want on it.

I know some people need high storage limits, my PC has 6.5TB connected to it, but I don't need it in my phone.

I know this isn't the same thing, but I can plug a USB-C flash drive into the port on my S10 and it's recognized as a mass storage device and I can move files to and from the flash drive.
