What about Moto credit? Is that a good way to go for making payments?
I agree wholeheartedly that the marketing effort for the new X is poor at best. I think we are seeing the effect of no google support. Sad, but I think the days of the Moto X are numbered. That's not to say Motorola might be successful in emerging markets with the G and E, but in CONUS Motorola is barely competing in a cutthroat market.
Why not just order it through motomaker instead of waiting until there is a PIN available for you at the local ATT store?

I won't buy anything I can't touch and see and play with first. Especially not an electronic device. Moto maker online is a huge no go. AT&T needs to get it's act together.

It's Motorola's fault as well. There's no excuse for not having already shipped MotoCards (like the last Moto X) for the launch, assuming that's what the requirement is (that's what ATT retail establishments have told me they're waiting for). ATT is just guilty of not caring about a great phone.
When I went in today (same store, 2nd time), the guy I talked with told me, "We've had a lot of inquiries about the Moto X since we talked. But we still haven't received any phones from Motorola."
They had the display ready (cleared out an Amazon phone).
So both parties are definitely suppressing sales via some bad business practices.
TL;DR - You can't order the Next Plan via Motomaker. You can't order a 32GB phone via the Next Plan.
If you don't object to one more credit card, MotoCredit will work exactly like Next, just over 18 months instead of 20/24. I totally get if you do, because I did, right up until I clicked "Purchase" on the $700 cart...
If we hadn't been able to see one, use one, and buy one in store that I've played with, I'd probably still be waiting for the PIN.
One theory I read, is that you can't go 10 mins without seeing an iPhone commercial from either Apple or any of the big four carriers. They're all screaming iPhone, iPhone, iPhone right now. Moto X would get completely lost in all that noise, which would the waste of possibly 10's of millions in marketing dollars. His thought is Motorola is holding off a few weeks because the majority of those that where going to buy the iPhone, no matter what, will have done so. So there is no point in trying to compete with that. He thinks the marketing hype for the iPhone will reduce from mid-October through mid-November and spark up again just prior to the holiday season. That's the period he thinks Motorola will do their heaviest marketing push for those customers still open to other phone manufacturers.
It's an interesting theory, but I'm not sure I buy it, since I don't think the iPhone hype will die down at all and continue through the end of the year. But the next couple of months will prove if his has any weight.

You can add Verizon to this also. I stopped by two Corporate stores yesterday and spoke to the Manager and a C/S rep and they knew nothing.. No display from Motorola depicting colors or finishes for the Moto X. They did have a white and bamboo back, non working model, tethered. Really sad! The Manager said they were waiting for the displays from Motorola?
