It's going to come down to the storage and whether there will be an LTE version. I'm off contract on an old unlimited plan with my GNex on Verizon, so there has to be a really compelling reason for me to give that up. 8 GB of storage and HSPA+ won't do the trick.
However, if the phone is cheap enough, I could get it and toss a T-Mo sim in just to have a toy/back-up. I kind of see the new Nexus being that for a lot of people here. Not a daily driver, but something for people that dig Android (and devs of course). It's weird, but the new Nexus' rumored limitations almost make it a more compelling purchase if it comes in at $350 or so off contract.
