I updated to kitkat 4.4.4 last night this morning I noticed that my note 3 was not finding the sim card. I have tried repairing many times but with no luck. Its a verizon Note 3 but currently using it in Mexico. Is it possible to downgrade to 4.4.2? or root it to sim unlock? or can I buy a code? HELP. I am new to the android world (previous iPhone user). I cant afford to be without a phone. Is there any solution to get the phone to recognize and red my mexican sim card or have I bricked my note 3?

I see that you are on Verizon.
You have to go here and change your settings to LTE and CDMA

If it is set to that then try Global. My GNOTE 4 was doing something almost the same after the last Verizon update. Mine kept losing the Sim card. I had to change mine from Global to LTE and CDMA. No problem since. I hope this helps you out.

The settings menu is slightly different because the poster above is on the Note 4 running the newest version of TouchWiz, but I don't think network mode would make a difference? Just the same, go to settings, mobile networks, and try 'global' vs LTE/CDMA. I have no idea how international roaming works.. And no, you can't go back to 4.4.2 :( Root is not avaliable for 4.4.4 yet. At this point, I'd call Verizon.

Since he is currently in Mexico, global is the right setting. Have you done a factory data reset?

I'm guessing you have a non Verizon SIM card in the phone allowing you to do prepaid on the other SIM. If that is the case you need to call Verizon and request a SIM unlock code.
