no SSL option in Yahoo mail on laptop so not syncing with Galaxy mobile

I've read other threads advising to switch on SSL to resolve my issue. SSL is switched on within my mobile phone settings but on my laptop the SSL option is not present in the relevant screen.
The issue I have is with Yahoo mail. I can use it on either my laptop or my phone but if i send a reply from my phone the sent e-mail does not appear on my laptop and vice versa. Manually refreshing does not resolve either. (I donlt have issue syncing with other non-Yahoo e-mails.
your help would be much appreciated
Using firefox on laptop in case that is relevant; Galaxy is old one S2 (GT19100) Android versionn 2.3.5
