Very interested in rooting the Nook Color to use as an Android tablet
for my son. Is their enough CPU/memory to use as a Web Browser and Youtube player? He has many educational sites using Flash to help his reading/math.

Thanks,

Don

It can run both pretty well, would say that it would depend on your son's age, and your willingness to keep up with updates instead of relying on developers pushing software automatically. Stock, no, I wouldn't say the device will do what you want, but rooted and kept up to date, I don't see why not :)

I picked up a NookColor last night. I'm runing Nookie and the Honeycomb preview off of an SD card. I haven't installed the market yet so I can't comment on how well flash does. I do intend on installing flash eventually.

This video sold me on getting a NookColor. It's Dungeon Defenders running on a rooted NC running Eclair (2.1).

YouTube - Nook Color Gaming: Dungeon Defenders First Wave

I figured if it can run that intense of a game that smooth it should have enough processing power to do what I need it to do.

It's my understanding flash video play back is still a little choppy. I'm not sure how well it'd do with flash games/educational sites.

Once I get it all installed I'll be happy to try it out for you.
