Just recieved my att note 9 last monday and so far not impressed with the battery. I'm coming from a s8plus and the battery isn't much better. I went and disabled as much stuff as i think i can, and disabled everything from running in the background and it still sucks. I'm using between 12-15% on just android system. I can usually get 3 to maybe 4hrs off SOT. ANy idea why i'm using so much android system time?
thanks

Heres a screen shot of today.

Mine is always in low to mid single digits... not sure why you're at 15%? I don't have Bluetooth on all the time... only when I get in the truck. I doubt that would affect Android System though... battery performance has been great, right from the start. I was using a Galaxy S7 Active w/4000 mAh battery before my Note 8 and this is better than that was!

Android system seems to be at the top for me more often than night...on all three Samsung phones I have had.

Go through your device, put apps you don't use to sleep. After Pie update I notice this helped me tremendously.
You may be able to compensate by turning your Always on Screen off at times. This may also help save battery.
Another thing I do once a day it happens about
3am. My phone reboots itself automatically. Wipe cache partition as well every so often and see how you do from there. Minimize screen brightness to help in this area too. It shows it's your Android system as being the culprit, but I would start with putting those apps to sleep, it makes a big difference.
Good luck

I put all the apps I don't use to sleep, restricted everything I could and it's still well over 10%.

I've noticed that I have started to charge my phone at night, which I usually don't need to. I just checked my phone and it looks like I will get roughly 10 hours before the battery dies. 4 hours so far and 6 hours left. Definitely not as good as on Oreo...

Here's today's screen shot. Not much better then my almost 2yr old s8+.

Android system is very high on yours? Mine never goes past 3% same with the OS. I get outstanding battery life. I leave on high accuracy location, Bluetooth and wifi.

I wish that were the case for me with Android system. 3 Samsung phones and it's almost always at the top for my battery usage.

And I auto reboot twice a week.

Did you set up that auto reboot or does the phone do it by itself? I've noticed mine reboots every night as I have to enter my pin to login every morning and it tells me it was because of a reboot. I don't recall setting that up myself but I'm getting old and may have done it and forgot about it. LOL

Seriously thinking about sending the note 9 back and going back to my s8+. I expected better with this battery and being 2yrs newer then my old ph. I just can't believe the battery life some of you ppl are getting compared to mine.

What are you doing (apps/browser/music?) during the SOT? I notice the SOT nearly mimics the Android System percentage in both examples! Trying to determine why it's using so much system resources while your screen is lit? Also, what is your brightness set at? (I think someone already asked that)... this is WAY out of the norm for this phone!!!

I set up auto reboot.
Click on Device Care, then click on three dots in top right corner and select accordingly.
Rock on

Check your screen time out. Mine set to 30 seconds, that's just me.
check to see if you don't have 10 or 15 minutes checked accidentally.
Even 5 minutes will add up.. just some fyi

This was 4 weeks after I got mine - I did a full charge and then used it normally (the SOT was like 5hr 37min - I don't do a lot) and you'll see Android System was at 19%, but 2 days, 13 hours and 38 minutes on a charge with 34% left!!!

Screenshot was January 29, 2019, therefore, my Note 9 - forgot it was Pie/One UI that moved the time to the left. How could I have forgotten with all the pissin' and moanin'!

Just on Facebook a little then looking at news and other stuff on chrome. I play cards for awhile otherwise nothing abnormal. Screen timeout is 1min, and brightness is about halfway.

Do you use the Facebook App or Facebook via your Chrome Browser? This is purely personal opinion mind you - I found with my (I think it was way back with my Note 7) that when I used the Facebook App and logged out, the App would stay running in the background 24/7 and chew the hell out of my battery. I don't know if that's changed in 3 years as I have since uninstalled it and always logged in via my Browser. I've never had an issue since. Anyone else can pipe in and give an opinion if it's changed but I never went back and tried again. I also don't use Facebook Messenger on my Phone as my FB Account got hacked once because you can't log out of Messenger. I only use it on my PC at home and close it through the Security Menu when done. So much crap these days... your other stuff sounds fine though! My brightness is at just above 1/3rd so half isn't that bad.

I've had my Note 9 about a week, but just got my number porting straightened out, so I'm using it pretty hard today. Basically setting it up, and manually adding contacts, my choice. It does seem like the battery is a little weak, compared to my S6. I know this phone has way more processing power, and features, but i realize that I'm really going to have to be aware of what I'm doing, until I see what happens. I'm a huge multi-tasker, and the phone handles everything great, just noticing the battery life, seems like it's going fast. I turned off, and optimized everything I can, and have my brightfitness about 40%. I'll try to update on the issue in a week or so. Only other issue I have, is trying to get used to the rounded edges, while typing. Probably just me, having something different.
