But I still have much more control over an android than I would with an iPhone. So yep an iPhone is faster but an android is so much more freedom to put things where I want, how big or small I want, more features to chose from. That to me is way more important.
I agree with those things. Just wish Samsung could find a way to optimize to the point of iPhone smoothness.

Crazy thing is iPhone is still faster and probably smoother than the S8 and it's 7 months old. Just saying. However, the GS8 is a pretty piece of machinery.

Someone has to explain what is faster about an iPhone. I don't have the S8, but I have an iPhone 7 right next to a V20 and don't see much difference. Opening the camera app on the iPhone seems a touch faster but nothing dazzling. There was a time when Android lagged quite a bit, but nowadays not so much.

Honestly I've never looked at battery capacity when choosing a phone. I'm satisfied with my s7s battery life.

the ONLY thing my old ip7plus had was better speakers. period. my v20 looked like cartoon screen like apples. my old note 7 was the beast. the s8plus surpasses all including my s7edge now.

It's a terrible excuse. They knew the embedded FPS wouldn't be ready. It's still a major design flaw.

Exactly! What I'm really annoyed with is that since the Galaxy S4, all the S models have had major design, engineering or marketing flaws-except the S7.

S5- Samsung misread the market and persisted with cheap plastic.

S6-No SD card and no waterproofing, small battery sizes really ticked off Samsung fans.

S7-Samsung got it right as an overall package, great premium design, usual features plus more, good battery sizes.

S8-Samsung will hear LOUD about the fingerprint scanner, same blunder as the S6 with small battery sizes.

Hopefully, the Note 8 and S9 will return Samsung to form along the lines of the S7. But I'm with the OP, the S8 is a let down, Samsung putting all their eggs in their premium display basket.

Samsung are giving far too much credit for their displays. I have still the Galaxy S5 which is a terrific phone and is still performing well. I love Samsung BUT to be honest, if I was looking to replace now or in the next couple of months, I'd probably wait for the HTC 11 (Ocean). Though it doesn't have the latest slim super slim bezels, it is quad HD by default, unlike the S8, a 5.5 inch display is large enough for me and the clincher-3700 mah battery.

From going and holding it yesterday, the FPS is on the wrong side for holding it left handed. You really have to contort your index finger over to reach it. It's on the same side as your thumb as you hold it.

I agree... the phone is really tall and it is a stretch for the fps sensor. I just got to play with one in a T-Mo store. I'm still on the fence with this one.

Someone crying because premium phone is premium... fml

It all depends what u looking for.. I loved the s7 edge.... This year I like G6...g6 ticks my boxes... Best is to hold the phone in person and decide if u like it or no

I had the note 7..never used it, lol. I wouldn't worry so much about the curved screen, put it in a case. As far a a big screen...what do you think you get with the iPhone plus? But remember that the note 7, prior to exploding was the best cell phone to date.

I agree with every single argument that the OP stated. Especially the battery, the stereo speakers and the glass chassis.

Cheers

One model of iPhone 8 will have curved Samsung screen but iPhone will also make a flat screen for folks like me. I wish Sammy did because I don't like iPhone ui. This means I'm stuck with LG or Moto but neither has Samsung quality Oled screens. On the bright side I have learned to like my LG LCD screen.

Before the announcement, I thought that the s8 would have the less pronounced curve like the Note7 had but they kept the same curve the S7 Edge has...

Cute little click bait thread title, but you'd have been fine with 'the s8. Meh, not for me. "

Don't you just love people who hate something they've never tried? Can we get this thread deleted?

Before the announcement, I thought that the s8 would have the less pronounced curve like the Note7 had but they kept the same curve the S7 Edge has...
No, they didn't. I have a S7E sitting here. The curves on the S8+ are exactly line the Note 7.

1st fail,,, I hate curved edge displays, that's thee reason I traded my S7 Edge for the regular S7.
2nd fail,,, fingerprint sensor location on the back right next to the camera lens and at the top portion of the phone.
3rd fail,,, no improvements to the camera or at least none mentioned.
4rth fail,,, odd phone shape (too tall).
5th fail,,, 21x9 screen ratio with black side bars when watching 16x9 content.
6th fail,,, no stereo speakers (correct ?)
7th fail,,, all glass phones do scare me for drops.
S 8th fail,,, the ability to protect the S8 with a case.

Ok,,, my personal opinions of course, but I was really interested in the S8 until after the all hype keynote.

I'm currently rocking an iPhone 7 Plus (I hate the bezels and the big size screen to footprint ratio, but still love the iPhone 7 Plus in spite of those drawbacks)

So now I'm just waiting for the September iPhone keynote or a suprise announcement of a new Note 8.

Cheers
Davyo

This is all stuff you could've known before buying. Sigh.

I believe this thread has run its course -- The OP hasn't been back in awhile either.

Thanks all!
