Well if some of you want to try this out, in windows you can go to Device Manager, and go to the USB section, and you should see a stock pile of USB hubs (or maybe just a couple). Right click each one of them go to properties, and then to the power management, and uncheck "Allow computer to turn this device off to save power." If there are any other power regulating features, disable those.
Sorry MAC guys, I have no clue what the equivalent in tiger is, but hopefully you'll have seen this option before and be able to go straight to it.
Also, for those USB 1.0/1.1 ports that do output lower amps, a shorter USB cable will help, which is why some of you have success when using the one Samsung provides. (Also possible they're using better material)
I forgot the username of who has been getting different errors throughout, I am scared you may have tinkered with it where this may not work for you, I'd restore to a previous checkpoint, maybe a day or two before, and then try these ideas out.
