Note 3: How to get YouTube into the pop up window?

Re: How to get YouTube into the pop up window?

Try going to the YouTube app on the app store. Uninstall then reinstall the updates.. Then try again and see what happens.

Tried this, didn't help.

Click on the link again. When the window pops up select the stock browser. Another pop up should appear with the you tube app as a selection.

Nope. No YouTube app came up. Tried it with 3 different video links.

Sounds like this one has been tough...

On Almeuit's line, uninstall YouTube, then power off/on, re-install maybe. I'm just guessing here though.

Are you rooted?

Not sure what's wrong with your YouTube app but apart from that, on my you tube app, when watching a video (in portrait mode), all I need to do is drag the video window (with my finger) away from its location on the page (it looks embedded) and it becomes a separate window that you can drag around on the note 3 screen while it plays.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled. I am not rooted. Thank you for the suggestion.

I can watch YouTube. What I can't do is select it from the window that pops up. I have to first go to a browser and watch it through a browser. I would prefer to be able to select the YouTube app to view a YouTube video right off the bat.

You're beyond my very limited level of "expertise". You may try the gurus over on xda-developers.com, they're pretty talented, but sometimes not real patient. Otherwise, I'm thinking a hard wipe and reinstall from scratch if it means that much to you. Sorry, and good luck.

Re: How to get YouTube into the pop up window?

I did a factory reset for this and other reasons and that darn YouTube app still doesn't show up in that pop up window. What the heck?

Thanks. Some of this I'd already tried with no luck. Working my way step by step through the article :)

I am sure @Golfdriver97 was pointing to the clear all defaults option in menu while in Applications Manager.
I am on 4.4.

There has been a long thread running here.
http://forums.androidcentral.com/showthread.php?p=3593050

I have you tube by default in pen window on a factory European N9005.
I found the whole Pen Window thing irritating so I gave up early. You started this thread a while ago so you may have found something or given up. Elsewise this might point you.

That's the way it works on my 900V as well.

Although I'm rooted and running the Beans ROM.

I don't remember adding it to the Pen Window, although I might have when I first rooted (like I added stuff to the Multi-Window that you can't unless you're rooted - it might be the same way with the Pen Window as far as I know).

I don't think that the Note 3 has a stock Pop Up Browser like the Note 2 did. I think you have to use the Pen Window or root your phone to get that functionality back.

Crap. Maybe I'm looking for a ghost. I can't help thinking that since a factory reset didn't fix it you might just be very right.

According to Google, I am (I thought I had heard that). If you don't want to root, you'll just have to adopt the Pen Window. If you root, you can actually add the pop up browser back in.

Not interested in rooting so I'll first finish making my way through the link I was given and if none of that works I'll look into this pen thing. Thanks!

The cool thing about the pen window is that you can open YouTube, Internet browser, and other things in the window and then minimize them and you'll get floating icons for each app that stay persistent. Was that a function of the pop up browser as well.

I was keen to figure this out.

S-Pen apps thread OP @qualifyordie would have a solution or could show there is a workaround for you.
I was not sure what @teleburst meant by a stock browser not being in Pen Window in Note 2's, unless it was a You Tube browser.

I am sure the answer is there if an Ambassador, like @dpham00 on Verizon, can pick this up. I think there is a few solutions here already.
