Note 3: How to get YouTube into the pop up window?

The Pen Window thing is simple. Pull out your pen. Air Command will pop up in the lower right. Choose the right slice of the pie with your pen. That's the Pen Window. When you do that, just draw a square or circle on the screen. A window will pop up with some apps, including YouTube and Internet browser. When you choose one, it will open in that window. You can actually open more than one. It's an extension of the multitasking concept.

@teleburst meant by a stock browser not being in Pen Window in Note 2's, unless it was a You Tube browser.

I don't think I said anything about a stock browser not being in the Note 2's Pen Window. I really don't know anything about the Note 2's operation. I was saying that the pop up browser of the earlier Notes had been dropped from the Note 3 according to some quick Googling that I did to conform what I thought I had read in a review some time back.

I think I am lost now and we're not talking pen window any more.

Yeah, she was talking about the pop up browser, not the Pen Window. Two different things

Correct. I tried the pen window but so far I'm not finding how that's going to get me to play the YouTube video that I want to play by pressing on the video link like in Facebook for example. When I use the pen window I get YouTube up but it's the YouTube home screen.

What video link are you referring to? Are you trying to pay a video directly without punching play after going to some random video link on a Web page?

I'm trying to figure out what you could do with YouTube on the 2 involving the pop up browser that you can't on the 3 (since I never had the 2).

I get this

when I click on the You Tube link in this post

which is what you are after.

It was the thread title that threw me.

I guess I don't understand how pop up browser works. When I do pin window, and I go to the Internet and there's an embedded YouTube link on a page, it normally plays when I choose YouTube to open the link, just like when you click on the link in Tapatalk.

I'm not sure how that is different than using pop up browser. I actually have pop up browser on my Note, but because I have several browsers, I don't access it directly. It's one of my choices, along with YouTube, when I hit a YouTube link, so I can't pull it up directly without choosing always instead of this time (I would try it but I don't want to have to go through the hassle of going back to having the choice as the default.

I tried pop up browser just to try it and it works just as if I were in Chrome or the regular browser. Is the complaint that you have to open a pen window first to get to the browser? Does that mean that the pop up browser is the default when you click a link in the browser/app that you're already in? If so, that seems weird because you're already in a browser or app that is displaying the link. Otherwise, how are you viewing the link in the first place? Does pop up browser act differently if it's the only way to open a link?

My unfamiliarity with pop up browser is the difficulty for me. I only see it as an option, not the default.

I think if Clear Defaults in Applications Manager - menu button, as @Golfdriver97 said, is done, it should bring back the ability to choose You Tube as an option, or the default application.

There may be a deeper issue on this phone that only a factory reset would clear, but I would not want to do it.

I guessed again that, by pop up window the OP meant another full screen 'window' that opens when clicking a link; but I don't want to go there again.

I don't know how You Tube can be set as a default only for a url link to You Tube, and a browser for every other url, but I rarely click one.

Yeah, I know how to clear defaults, I just don't want to bother to do it to test how something works. Maybe later when I have more time.

Yeah, I can be lazy that way. I've already spent more time than usual testing how this is an issue. Especially over a feature that I have but rarely if ever use (pop up browser - I added it but only because it was a feature that I was told I didn't have . That's one if the perils of rooting, I suppose.)

I'm still curious though.

LOL - I meant the OP didn't make it clear that clearing defaults that way was tried.

I was curious as well, but I'm over it now. :)

Used to be that when I clicked a YouTube video link like in Facebook for example I'd get a pop-up window that had my browser icons AND a YouTube icon. I could click the YouTube app button and the video would play. Now I have no YouTube app button so I have to click a browser, let that load then find the video on the page and click that. I have no YouTube app button any longer so I have to take extra steps to play a YouTube video a day it's annoying and more time consuming to watch a YouTube video this way. Make sense?

Yep. I see what you're talking about now. There is 1 additional step. You have to click the browser button to get the YouTube icon.

It's not a big deal to me but I can see how an extra step would be annoying to someone used to going directly to YouTube.

YouTube in the pop up Window is included in Android 4.4.2.

I have 4.4.2 now but still no YouTube in the pop up window. Is there a trick to making this happen?

Notes from Deb's Note 3

I'm afraid I don't know if there's a trick or not to switching this on, but mine is there same as before. Could it be a Facebook setting, since you mentioned that before?
