Purchased Note 3 from Best Buy today and noticed right away the back of the unit near camera very warm. Coming from a Note 2 did not notice the warmth when charging unit. My note 3 is extremely warm while charging as well. I did a factory hard reset and still occuring? Wondering if I should exchange. Anyone else notice device becoming hot

Mine did the same until I did the following. Updated software for phone. Removed battery and sd card. Then put it back together. Cooled off right away

Have you noticed any other issues with overheating though?? Its seems to cool down quickly, but seems to get hot when scrolling and downloading apps as well.

I find the upper back portion of the phone warm where the lower part not at all. Area around camera.

I dont mind toying with it, but somewhat new to android platform. Only reason I state this is inquiring if possible to back up all apps and then reload without tediously going through the store to do so if doing another hard reset. Can you back up to home computer or does it require memory card in phone.

Welcome to the forums!
I would contact Samsung at least. If not Verizon. This doesn't sound normal.

After taking out the battery and sim card and reboot it seems to be doing better now. I didn't have an update to download. Not nearly as warm now

Cpu is there. Don't worry, the gigahertzes just won't come for free.

I noticed mine getting warm yesterday under certain loads. It will happen from time to time. The cpu's in these things will produce some heat when fully ramped up. The phone should also throttle it if it gets to hot.
