Note 4 Android Authority Review

Re: Android Authority Review

Yes, 2k, not 4k, my bad. I was playing with one at Best Buy today and the screen is gorgeous, I'm not denying that. The 1080p screen on the S5 also won awards and looks great too, though, so IF we lose significant battery life because of the screen on the Note 4 I would rather have the high quality 1080p display from the S5 and better battery life.

One review isn't enough to go by, however, and I'm holding off judgment until the phone has reached wide spread release and many reviews. I'm just saying it concerns me because I don't like carrying chargers and I don't like carrying extra batteries - with my Note 2 and Note 3 those things never even crossed my mind.

Also to add... The G3 only has a snapdragon 801 processor instead of the 805. The 805 can better handle QHD displays.

Me too! It's a long story but I've been using an iPhone 6 for two weeks and I'm dying a little each day. I'm waiting for the N4 to show up so I can give the iPhone 6 to my son.

I feel bad for your son.

Re: Android Authority Review

The part about meeting Samsung's second claim about the charging "to 100% in 100 minutes" is crap. My Note 3 can do that. I hope it's 0 to 100 in under an hour. The camera review was pretty short and lacking confidence in low light performance.

I think the only way that can happen on a Note 3 is if the phone is off during charging, which I have never done....

There is NO way you can charge a Note 3 OEM battery from 0-100% in 90 minutes with the phone being on.

Re: Android Authority Review

Outstanding review. So glad I pre-ordered this sexy white beast! A device worthy of my money with innovation. My first ever Note, I'm pumped!!! 12 more days!!!

First Note...you're gonna have a blast with it!

I did say 100 minutes, not 90. However, I don't run it all the way down to 0%. When I do charge, the screen is off, but it's still powered on. Usually I only run it that low on the weekends before I plug it in. If I'm at 50%, last time I checked, I should be able to get to 80% in 30 minutes. In other words, after 30 minutes, 30% charge on Note 3 and 50% charge on Note 4.

Re: Android Authority Review

You still can't charge from 0-100 in 100 minutes on a Note 3...not if the phone is on. You can't even charge it in 120 minutes with the phone on...fact! I have tested it on two batteries and it's something like a few minutes over 2 hours...IIRC. Note 4 is supposed to be faster, not sure how much and won't really know until I have one...

Not to mention based on Displaymate tests the N4 display is about twice as efficient as the power hog known as G3 display.

Re: Android Authority Review

This will be my first NOTE as well and my first non-iPhone smart phone. I am pretty pumped!

Since you're leaving the iPhone realm, I need to tell you there is quite a bit difference between iOS and Android. So if there's ANY questions whatsoever about your phone or Android, DO NOT HESITATE to ask! We are here to help in any way, shape, or form!

Congrats on your new (about to have) N4!

Okay, so I ran a little unscientific test from 60%.
Charged 14% in 12 minutes
Charged 25% in 26 minutes
Charged 31% in 35 minutes
Charged 35% in 45 minutes
So, basically, faster charging before approximately 85-90%, then it slows down considerably.
I am not sure what a full charge from 0 would be as I've never ran it that low.
Maybe this is why the Note 4 is only estimating a full charge in 100 minutes and 50% charge in 30 minutes.
