Note 5 Battery life thread

I'm not sure, not sure when you turned on WiFi. I've seen a lot of Verizon customers experience a high standby and high drain when WiFi is on, there is a thread about it in the Note 5 forum. I've seen a a few AT&T users have that but only a handful.

I'm assuming you have WiFi set to sleep when the screen is off, not to scan, no network notifications etc.

Everything is off in WiFi settings besides it turning off while in stand by. I need WiFi on all the time at home because my data signal isn't the best

Well.. Back when I had AT&T I had my WiFi set to turn off when the phone was sleeping and I still got all my notifications right away.

You might want to try that setting and see if it helps the battery drain when you're connected to WiFi.

I'll try it, thanks.

I never use WiFi for more than about 5 minutes anymore so I don't even know if my battery drains more on WiFi.

With my Note 4 I never toggled my WiFi to off and I would get 6-8 hours of SOT and charge only once a day.

Verizon - disable wifi when screen is off = battery issues resolved for me.

Battery life On my AT&T Note 5 is still excellent here over 6hrs SOT , wish it would actually show that i been using Tapatalk and Gplus a lot.

Do you always run your battery down that low?

For just normal everyday use, I try not to let mine get below 30%.
The answer is No, if you mean me , most the time when i am at 20% i charge it , just was out at hospital so went down to 3 % then i recharged at my car.

I've noticed something... the "4G LTE" icon is on a lot when WiFi is on. I thought it was locations services, but thing is that I have them off. Maybe this is causing the drain..? EDIT: just noticed "gpsd" in my battery stats even thought GPS hasn't been enabled once today.

Weeks ago I posted about this going on. When on wifi, the phone will periodically connect to LTE also at the same time. I also stated that GPSD has started to show up, and usually uses 10%-15% of fully charged battery. I do not remember seeing GPSD in battery stats before the last firmware update. I wonder what's changed. What exactly is GPSD?

Try this.....
For 1 day, delete both Facebook and Facebook Messenger and use the browser for both. Then compare battery stats to what you just posted. I'll bet a dime to a dozen donuts you'll get twice the screen on time. Those 2 apps are battery killers.

Is it possible for those two apps' use to be shown as "Android System" rather than each individual app by themselves? I don't really use them that heavily but I do have them. FB is at 0.4% of my battery use so far and Messenger is 0.2% according to GSam.

I ask this because I'm wondering if some apps are being used but showing up as "Android System" which, today anyway, is around 25% of my use as per GSam.

I've had great battery life until yesterday. Normally I'd still have about 45-50% at the end of the day. That's taking it off the charger at 5:30 AM and on the charger around 7:00 PM each night. Yesterday I noticed that I was down to 50% at noon. Thinking that I probably didn't have it sitting in the wireless charger correctly, I brushed it off. Last night I plugged the phone in and made sure it was at 100% this morning. Within 3 hours and minimal usage, my battery has dropped to 68%. Installed Gsam to see what's going on and Android system is using over 28% of my battery. I haven't changed anything, settings wise, or added any new apps recently.
