Note 5 vs iPhone 6s

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

I also really appreciate iOS hardware...but my god the OS is mind numbing boring.

I have been an Android user since moving over from webOS...and have fell in love with it since Lollipop & Material design. I feel Android has finally grown up and is much more solid and stable.

Long story short...the best thing would be an Android device but with access to iMessage, Facetime & Airplay (starting to become a mute point). And it will almost ever happen.

I guess I am still confused as to what the benefits of iMessage are. Why is it such an allure? I admit I've had iMessage for the majority for the past year though but so far I've been iMessage free and haven't seen a drawback.

Full quality pictures and videos. That's about it really. Oh and I guess texting over WiFi / other devices?

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

A friend just pointed out to me that maybe researching smartphones and constantly being on forums may be fueling my sickness for smartphones. I'm going to have to give some serious thought to taking a break from this tech stuff and just being happy with my Note 5.

So true, as a tech forum addict myself, the only solution is going cold turkey.

Funny thing is, if I didn't research this stuff and talk about this stuff all the time, I wouldn't care so much. But it's true, being on the forums and tech websites makes me want new devices. How many times have you been happy with your device, but then you read on the forums that someone else had an issue and all of a sudden you have discovered the same issue and now it's intolerable? Or that there are rumors about a software update and now you are upset because you have had to wait such a long time for it? This may not be a popular thought here, but it has given me some pause tonight as I reflect on my issue. I'm looking forward to turning in my Note 5 next year for a Note 6 when I'm due for another upgrade. No more exchanges, no more cases, no more tech sites, no more forums, until it's time for me to upgrade this time next year. The forums for most is another great thing. Members get help with their devices and learn to use them better. For me, it has turned into a bad habit. A reason to indulge in a pricey hobby that stresses me.

It is useful if everybody else you communicate also have iMessage. Its like Google Hangouts, unless other person has it, it is hard to say if it is useful or not.

I do love Facetime though. The calls are free and it works seamlessly most of the time. Never been a time where Facetime failed.

It is also worth mentioning the tight integration iMessage and Facetime gets with the Mac OS. That integration is pure awesome. I wish Android had something similar, at least with Chrome browser - which I believe technically it is possible, just that Google need to build it.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

I'm wondering if this Note 5 I bought last week will make it past the 14 day return window., So far, so good.

Keep it! you will not regret it. Note 5 is amazing. it's making my iphone collect a lot of dust.
I'm kidding, use what works Best for you no matter if its, notes or iphones or smoke signals.

I do agree with your earlier post about iOS and iMessages Blowing away anything android has.
my brother tried to send me a pic from a samsung S6 Edge + to my Note 5 on the same carrier (AT&T)
and he asked me what I thought about it and I said umm what are you talking about?
the pic was taken on the s6 edge + just like the other 30 pics i had gotten from him...

Android, on every carrier, on every phone I have ever tried has some sort of issue with picture messages.
I have had S3, S4, S6 edge, Note 3, 4 & 5, LG G Pro, LG G3, Moto X( every single one of them) and over verizon And AT&T and pictures sometimes, just won't send. I have NEVER once had that issues with iPhone.

I love my note but android sometimes makes me angry. I may end up selling all my phones and getting an iPhone 6S+ and giving up on phone buying and selling. getting tired of the game. i have an imac. both just work. all the time.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

I sold my 6s plus and ordered the Note 5. I'm very excited. Both are great really, sometimes it depends on what you want at a certain time. If you used IOS for a while and get bored then android is the way to go, especially with a device like the note 5. But then if you use android a lot and sometimes you just wanna use something that is more straight forward cause you have been tired of rooting and tweaking then a 6S plus is a great choice. It really depends on many factors. Right now I need more customization and a better display.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

I'm getting irritated with myself because I keep switching back and forth between the two platforms. I just want to make a decision already and stick with it. Had the iPhone 6S on launch weekend. Nothing wrong with it. Really enjoyed it actually. And it complemented my iPad Air 2 perfectly. But yesterday was day 13 of my 14 day return window and I panicked. Went out and exchanged it for the Note 5. Bought a case, screen protector, and wireless charger. So, I'm all in. Haven't touched my beloved iPad since. Now here is the problem. When I use the note, I don't want to use any complementary devices. After a while, I miss my iPad and I want to switch back, but I need the iPhone to go with it. I have been doing this for years. And it's making me feel quite ridiculous. But I can't choose. And I don't know why.

It's great to see that I am not the only one (not that I thought that) but I didn't think there were so many of us lol. I bounce back and forth so much that my girlfriend could ring my neck. Wasting money and a lot of time researching and setting up each device. Buying accessories, waiting for packages to arrive. It's a mess. I think a lot of our problem is (or maybe just mine) is we are looking for the perfect device. I want it all wrapped in one big package. I want the specs of the note 5. The performance of the nexus on Android or performance of the iPhone. The spen, imessage. (Or at least better implementation of group messing on Android) I wish wish wish Samsung would sell their devices outright without all the carrier bullshhhhh.. That would alleviate disabling a million apps and we could get decent updates in a timely fashion. I want the note 5 with nexus updates. Never happening but that's why I change so much. I want something specific every time there is a new device launched and causes me to take all the negatives even if they aren't many and sell it and grab the new one. Never fails I go back at least one top the device I just sold but usually I go back 3-4 yikes a year. Smh aggravating as heck. And I could not agree with some of your about tech sites. I think if I stay off these it would help a lot because right now I'm contemplating trading my iPhone 6s plus back to get the note 5 AGAIN haha.

Well, I don't have to make that horrible choice, so I have my beautiful Note5, a Pro Tab 12.2, an IPad and a beautiful HP windows 10 computer

I'm on this tech addiction bandwagon. I agree that if I didn't get on these sites all day long, I wouldn't be stressing about it and constantly looking for a change. I, too, am looking for the perfect device - which doesn't exist. I swap from Android phone to Android phone to iPhone and back to another Android phone. I pre-ordered the 6s Plus as soon as I could. Got it and was completely underwhelmed. Coming from a Note 5 the screen and camera weren't any better, and battery life was barely better. So I sold it. Went back to my Note 5. Then I saw the Nexus announcement. Thought the 6P was just what I was looking for so I pre-ordered that as soon as I could. Obviously I'm still waiting on that phone. But I'm back to looking at iPhones, too. I'm really thinking I'll either stick to the Nexus or just go to iOS and quit looking stuff up constantly. It's a pain in the ***. Just buy what I like and stick with it. These sites, while they can be awesome, really put thoughts into your head. It's an expensive and time consuming hobby that I'd really like to quit and just stick to updating once a year. And don't get me started on looking for a laptop/tablet. That's still on my list and taking up time, too.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

I guess I'm lucky in that I can spend time focused on using the device I have versus listing after a device that I don't. After repeated attempts to type on iPhone, I became so frustrated that I just said no.

Windows phone isn't an option, so that's out. I started withwith the Motorola Photon, which was a huge jump from the BlackBerry Style that preceded it. That led to the S3 and 4, the 4 being the device I actually had active the longest, surviving a record 20 month run for me.

The Note series was calling me, because of features and functionality. I wanted the S-Pen, because it is more precise than a common stylus, which fits my needs very well. It's a lot more than 'just' a stylus, anyway. I also have grown to enjoy the larger screen, the eyes aren't getting any younger.

I still have a tablet for entertainment stuff when I'm home, and games and such, but the Note 5 is my utility infielder, it gets the job done no matter what position I put it in.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

Why not get rid of the iPad if your Note 5 meets all your needs?

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

I never let these things bother me. I have used all three mobile platforms, have a MBP, and a Kindle Fire. I just buy the phone I like and use third party applications to link my devices. Dropbox, OneDrive, Wunderlist and so on work on all of them. It works well for me.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

I have a note 4 that I own outright and got an iPhone 6s+ on launch day. Whenever I need android, just drop my SIM card in it and there I go. When I need to use the iPhone, I do the same thing.

I have mine on order, so I'm going to take my hiatus once that comes in. Looks like I still have 2 weeks or more. I've gotta quit messing with this stuff, too - it kind of controls my life and gives me too much anxiety.

Haha I know it's ridiculous. I had my nexus on order then I knew if I actually let that arrive to my place I would be castrated by the gf lol. She would just be mad. So I'll wait for the reviews first. I hate that it doesn't have ois. It might not matter one bit but idk why they wouldn't just use it dammit lol. I want all the specs in these phones. That's why I could never get the iPhone 6s. It doesn't have ois and a lesser dense screen.
