Note 5 vs iPhone 6s

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

Haha I know it's ridiculous. I had my nexus on order then I knew if I actually let that arrive to my place I would be castrated by the gf lol. She would just be mad. So I'll wait for the reviews first. I hate that it doesn't have ois. It might not matter one bit but idk why they wouldn't just use it dammit lol. I want all the specs in these phones. That's why I could never get the iPhone 6s. It doesn't have ois and a lesser dense screen.

What are you using now? My problem is that I want the iPhone with some customization from Android. Which won't happen. I love the simplicity of iOS and that it mostly just works, but I get so tired of feeling like I have the same phone and setup as everyone else. With a little work I can make my Android phone work for me, not how Apple wants it to work for me. But at the same time, it's nice to not feel like I have to tweak anything. Ugh. Stupid tech and stupid sites feeding my addiction!

Why does it bother you to have an iPhone that works for you but is similar to others?
you can get a case different from others. Have different ringtones and wallpaper from others.
Apps that many people don't know about and organized however you like? That is a a bunch of personalization for something produce by the millions.

There really is not a hardware/software solution to an attitude and outlook, yet

You failed to read the second part of that equation. "With a little work I can make my Android phone work for me, not how Apple wants it to work for me." That's my problem. I don't like that I literally can't customize anything other than ringtones (and even a lot of apps don't allow for ringtone customization), wallpaper, or how I arrange my icons. That's basically it. Like I said, with Android I can do a little tweaking and arrange it exactly how I want and get it to work for me. With iOS, I feel like the phone works for Apple, and if I don't like that, then tough. That's not an attitude problem, that's just me pointing out something that I don't like about iOS and why I have trouble using it everyday.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

We honestly need to start a support group because I thought I was the only one! I switch phones like a madman but I always come back to the iPhone. To make matters worse I do the exact same thing with iCloud and Google. I have a 6s Plus and I just returned my Note 5.

I'm thinking of going to the 6s plus even though I like the note 5. I think this is addiction lol and you're right about the support group

I have the iPhone 6s plus. Not the 6s because it doesn't have ois and lesser dense screen. That was why I originally got the iPhone 6 plus even though the iPhone 6 fits perfectly in my hand. I couldn't handle not having the top iPhone. But as I've come to realize, I love that size phone now and the battery life was way better. The note 5 feels way better in the hand then the iPhone 6s plus. Ergonomics do wonders. I like touch id better though and don't like Samsung's stupid capacitive buttons. Love the s pen but that doesn't really have to be mentioned. The screen is great too but I do prefer the iPhone colors better. Less saturation so I always change the display to (i can't remember the name) less vivid in the settings. I just want Samsung to sell their devices without carrier bloat and skip the carrier for all updates. That's another reason I prefer iPhone. That's why I want the nexus but then the nexus camera always sucks. Well in my opinion it does. I love Samsung's camera and the camera app and all the settings you get with it. This is a yearly battle... It's actually a every time a new flagship is released battle and it's maddening. That's another reason I like iPhone. Once a year upgrades, that's it end of story, done. But these are first world problems and I feel dumb for even writing this. Appreciate what you have is what I think but that only lasts a few weeks. Lol
A perfect device doesn't exist. Never well and I really think that is my problem. Can't wrap my head around it. Thinking the next phone will be the one and there's always a letdown somewhere. One day I'll learn, just not today haha.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

Did you consider really going All In and buying an Android Tablet and have a consistent platform across the board; the new Asus or Samsung S2 or the Nexus 9 (between my 2 boys and I we have 3 of them) are fantastic choices!

I have thought of doing that but I know I won't use it then I'll feel like it will be burning a hole in my pocket since I'm not using it and then I'll sell it and then I'll want something else.

I think I figured it out though. Going to pop out a kid and then I'll be flat out broke where the only thing I could possibly research is the best formatting and comfortable diaper that is in my budget and voila. Problem solved.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

In all seriousness, I went to best buy to look at the note 5 again and it was eh. Sometimes that's all I need but sometimes I need more than a few minutes with it to realize I want it or don't. I'm just going to keep my iPhone and be done with the back and forth.
Wow as I was typing this what the heck comes on the tv? A nexus 5x commercial.. Is it a sign. They never advertise nexus. Oh no no no. I want marshmallow. No no no can't, can't do it. Don't. Dammit

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

To me, iMessage shines when you have a significant group of your regular contacts that also use it AND you are used to being able to send high resolution pics (without SMS compression), larger gifs, and videos through your stock messaging app. If, like me, most of the people you regularly communicate with are on iMessage then it makes a difference. I also use a Mac and an iPad so the the seamless integration can't be beat. Yes, there are 3rd party apps like Pushbullet or Mighty Text that could help you achieve multi-device syncing, but you are still limited by the carrier imposed SMS file size restrictions. If you don't have a significant number of contacts who use iMessage then this is far less likely to matter to you.

Just today a friend of mine (who uses an iPhone) tried to text me a pic she had rakeb with her phone and it didn't come through on my Note 5. Instead I got an error message in my text thread. Why? Because of carrier imposed SMS file size restrictions. I don't have these issues when I'm using my iPhone. I could ask people to download and use third party apps, but the beauty of iMessage is that it's baked right in at the OS level.

It's a good thing you and I aren't friends in the real world. They'd find us unconscious in the gutter with empty bags of marshmallows laying next to us. Damn tech junkies!

I dont think the V10 is going to be anything special, especially with that older S808 on board. Its one of them devices that will be forgotten soon.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

I can honestly say that in the last 12 months I have purchased about 8 phones with the intent of leaving Apple and they have all been returned. They are cool and some do some amazing things, but when it comes down to it. My 6+ just works and does everything I want.. I am still going to keep buying new phones whenever they are launched and probably keep sending them back. I bought my 6+ at launch last year and still love it

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

I understand what you are saying. And you make a good point. But using both isn't a possibility for me. That would just aggravate me to death. The sexy thing for me would be to use my Note for everything. And that's how I have used my Notes in the past. But then, the idea of an iPad creeps in and I want it back. I don't really care about the iPhone. But the iPad is seductive. And what makes the iPad even better is when you use it in conjunction or an extension of the iPhone. The problem with having an iPhone and iPad is that I have to manage both devices. I don't want to do that either. If I could just use an iPad for everything including making calls my problem would be solved.

Get yourself a Galaxy Tab too, that way you have same tablet experience when you have the Note. Then go back to your Ipad if you switch back to the Iphone.

Haha. Indeed. Can't get enough.

My return window has closed officially so I'm stuck with the iPhone..... I feel claustrophobic. Lord knows I'll probably sell the iPhone to get the nexus and then send that back and get another iPhone. Should go back to a flip phone and be done. Then I'll be researching the best flip phone. Can you even but one anymore? Lol been since 2007. I would die

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

I'm personally going back to iOS as my phone platform. I'm so tired of having to grab my ipad for the iOS only apps I use every day. The S Pen on the Note 5 is really useful and i've actually used it at least once a day for the month i've had it, but a pen doesn't make up for the constant frustration of apps I really like showing up on iOS first and only sometimes getting Android releases. And apps like Union, Waterlogue, and Hyperlapse are never coming to android from what I see.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

Nexus 5 on Sprint, iPad Mini 3 lte and iPhone 6 on T-Mobile. Love all of it without decisions to be made. However, I know that's not financially possible for everyone.

We really need to talk to the Mods at AC and iMore about getting some sort of support group going! Ha!

This is my current tech s(h)ituation: using a Note 5, love the camera, love the screen, still hate that it'll be 2026 before I see Marshmallow - and then who knows if it'll jack up the phone or not. Have a 128gb Nexus 6P on order that seems like it'll be 2026 before I ever get the d a m n thing - I am not patient enough for a month long wait when I ordered as soon as it went live. I also have a Chromebook Pixel that I just bought on eBay and a Moto 360 2015 on order. Then I got stupid and picked up a might as well be new 6s Plus on Swappa, just in case the 6P failed me. Haha! I may actually switch over to that until I get my 6P and see which one I like more. And no, I don't have enough money to keep everything, unfortunately. Just happen to have enough in my PayPal credit account to cover this for the time being. :)

The 1st World struggle is real.
