Note 5 vs iPhone 6s

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

I am confused between Note 4 and Iphone 6.
For the same money- i can either get a new Note 4 OR a used iphone 6 (64gigs).

My main requirement is i should be able to use the phone for at least next 2 years..
I did use oneplus2 for a few months but was really annoyed with lag/delay when using dialer screen :( and the battery used to die by afternoon-4PM-5PM
I don't have any particular platform preference. I am afraid note 4 might not perform well after 12-16 months.
Please advise.

If you are looking at keeping the phone for 2 years, I would get the Note 4. And my main reason for my recommendation is that the Note 4 has a removable battery and micro SD card. You will be able to replace the battery when it starts to lose its charge. And you will be able to expand your memory when it becomes full.

Be poor like me, just bearly.cover rent.and food and just have a regular basic phone and nothing extra if you don't want it, give it to me 7146052843
That's an interesting notion. Many of us have means to switch smartphones when we want. But, if we had to choose a device knowing we wouldn't be able to afford to switch to something else, what would we choose for the long haul?

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

I love the Apple iMessage and most family members have iPhone I wanted to just go with one device bit the Note 5 draws me back
I find the call quality and reception better on Android devices

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

I have had every Nexus since the Nexus one (which I left the iPhone3G for) so I have been very loyal to Android and Google. This week, after dealing with my nightmare nexus 6P bluetooth issues and Google telling me that they aren't going to do anything about it, I went out and bought an iPhone 6S+. I live in a complete mac world, other than the Android phone I have always had, so I am very familiar with iOS, OSX, and all that goes with it. The thing is... it all just works, and works well together. I have been waiting for Google to get it all to work as well as Apple. Hangouts... just getting worse and worse, I don't think we will ever have a desktop version that handles text messages. Pushbullet was great, but now I have to pay $40 a year to get SMS on my desktop. Wifi Calling, good luck having the carriers letting that onto a nexus device (at least AT&T, my carrier).

Another issue I was having was that with the absolute proliferation of iOS devices in my industry everyone wanted to have facetime meetings and I had to keep my iPad with me and connect it to my phone. When I would say, "do you want to do a hangout" the response was usually "a what?". So now I have a shiny new Nexus 6P, which I absolutely love other than the fact I can't talk on it in my car, that will stay with me and I will look at it longingly wishing it had worked out between us. I do not have any love for iOS, but it really comes down to the fact that it is a tool that works well for the job I need it to. Android will always be that second device I keep close because I am so drawn to all of the rebelliousness it offers me, like the ability to put a widget where I want to, and move a folder to the bottom of my screen! Thanks for letting me rant, now I am going to go to iMore and do a post on how much better Android is than iOS just so I feel better about making an iOS device my daily driver.

The Doctor is right about removable sd and battery however in Note 4 forums there is lots of talk about lag since update. Sounds iffy if your goal is to eliminate lag. iPhone usually has less lag. So does Nexus 6.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

MKBHD just did his 2015 smartphone awards video. Any guesses as to which one he chose as phone of the year?

Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

I've always known him to love stock android phones, but he talked more about the Note 5 in the video. So it was surprising at the end when he announced his winner. He said battery life was around 5 hours for him. In battery life, he never even mentioned the 6s+. His winner for battery was the Turbo 2.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

I have been using my Nexus 6p for about a day. Right now I am already back to the Note. I actually do not like the finger print on the back. I have to pick the phone up fully any time I want to unlock it. The Note is just a little tighter size wise which always helps too. Plus the Note screen is noticeably better. I think I will be keeping the Note. Now I just need to decide about this damn iPhone.

What is your budget? Maybe we can help you find a good deal on something.

What iPhone do you have?

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

What iPhone do you have?

6s+ : Thing flies and works. Like the family ecosystem and feel like browsers perform better. Safari w/ adblock and iCab (fantastic browser - wish he would make it for Android)

Android - widgets, customization, Note's screen, S-pen, Google Now.

What Browsers do you guys use? I like having the ability to access bookmarks from the bottom of the screen and absolutely need ad-blockers at this point to view the mobile Web.

Nothing meets my needs oddly. I use Dolphin for Desktop (swipe left bookmarks and gestures + adblock); use Chrome for searching, but bookmarks stink, and no ad-block; used to use Mercury, but adblock doesn't work anymore. Yandex actually has the great idea of having the whole bar at the bottom, but don't feel 100% comfortable giving my search history to Russia.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

Well. I'm getting the android itch again. Still have my iPhone 6 Plus which I'm not getting rid of. But now I've also acquired a Nexus 6 which I hate. (Hubby insisted) . My plan is to see if I can unload this thing as a trade for a Note 4 or 5 . I'm trying Craigslist lol.

Why do you hate the Nexus?

I use the Samsung browser. I really like the features. It sucks that you can't find a smartphone that meets your needs. I can imagine how frustrating that is.

Yeah I hated the fingerprint in the back at first. First day I was like damn this thing is going back. After 2 more days using the Nexus I was used to it and was sold. Totally depends what you want your phone to do. I just didn't need the extra features of the Spen and multi window etc. I like having updates and being in the latest OS and not have to worry about my carrier anymore. Loved that about iPhones.

Yeah the Note screen is more vibrant but was too bright for me sometimes. I use auto brightness and the Nexus is def better for it. Adapts better.

I loved the Note 5 alot but I don't regret selling it and keeping the Nexus 6p. Enjoying it for sure.
