Note 5 vs iPhone 6s

Re: T-mobile rep advised me against the Note 5

Really? He told me $29 for the Note 5 and $24 for the S6. I'm going to try to another store tomorrow and see what they say.

The 32 gb Note 5 is $25 and the 64 gb is $24 and some change.

Re: T-mobile rep advised me against the Note 5

Is that for new enrollments only? I'm already in it so would that deal still apply?

Nope, not new enrollments only. I did a JOD upgrade to the Note 5. You will get a monthly credit on your bill, so the credit goes toward how much you pay in total.

Re: iphone vs note 5

I use both. Right now. Today.
Both are great devices. But. The day in / day out usability of each makes the Note 5 my go-to device. It just does more and is more flexible in using it in ways I want. With the looming iPhone 6S this may change. I'll see.

Ends today actually.... 1 day before the new iPhone announcement. Clever

T-Mobile told me Labor Day, so one day later. But it has been going on for quite some time.

I went from the 6+ to the s6 the not 5 came out two weeks later of course. location reminders are much better on the iPhone. though they can go off 3 blocks away sometimes but they pretty much almost always work. google reminders work ok for some places but like walmart I never get a reminder. the location reminders will keep going off till you mark them complete. it is easier to set a reminder with ok google. iMessage is not so picky about the pics I send and i can send them from my mac mini or from my phone or iPad. so having iMessage bridge ally devices I miss that. fast charging is great and the s6 battery suck compared to the iPhone.
bluetooth connectivity is much better on the s6. I have used bluetooth headsets of varies kinds on my iPhone for several years I have had odd glitches and issues. on my 6+ if I was listening to a audiobook and playing a game and got a phone call the phone would give me no sound on both ends. Plus I could not call out or receive more calls till I rebooted the phone. Plus on calls people had trouble hearing me when I used the bluetooth headset. with the s6 people can year me just fine no wacky glitches (once in awhile I will have a book stop playing) and overall phone call quality is way better and speakerphone is really good.
iCloud backup and restore seems better.

IMO, the sales rep shouldnt put their 2 cents about the phones you want or getting unless you asked them to.

Maybe his commission and a quota is higher on the iPhone?

Seems like a biased opinion. Maybe he doesn't like Samsung

You're probably right. Either way this iPhone deal $15/month im on now might be too good to give up for now. whether its $25 or $29 a month its still more than what im paying now so as much as I want the Note that is a big factor to consider. I give it some more thought.

Re: iphone vs note 5

One thing an iPhone user should know before switching is because Android has so many more features and options there is a LOT to learn. This forum is your friend for that. So is google search. I have an iPhone 6 plus and a Note 3. I use the Note 3 because I like to customize. If you just want set it up and forget it you may prefer iPhone. Personally I absolutely HATE using iTunes or even having it on my computer. I like the Android App Store way better. I find it much easier.

Re: iphone vs note 5

What are you guys thoughts around a note 5 vs iphone? What would be missing if I went to a note 5 from an iPhone or what would I be gaining

IMO you should wait either way if you're considering an iPhone. It's way to close to the 6S+ release to be even considering the current 6+. Unless you're looking for a price drop I guess.

Re: iphone vs note 5

Yes it is a lot to learn trying to find replacement apps that do what you want is work too. Myslef I was tired of the new iPhones they only offer small improvements overall. The 6 + offered a little more but the interface has been moslty the same for years. I was bored to tears with it. Using swiftkey with it meant mail and imessage had to be killed several times a day to get the keyboard to come up. From what I hear 9.0 still had the keyboard issues. Word predict is horrible with apple devices and swiftkey helped but still had issues.
My wife is blind and uses voice-over and it is always crashing or causing other apps to crash. She is practicing talkback on a gpad. F8 but it mat be more limited.

I just don't understand the concept of putting $99 down for the 64gb version. Bump up the per month price by a few bucks. Unless it's strictly a financing move, you'll never get your money out of it.

I plan on paying it off on a couple of months and keeping it, whether I upgrade or not.

Re: T-mobile rep advised me against the Note 5

I haven't had any problems with my Note 5 and I've had it for about three weeks now. I think he was just trying to get you to save your money.

One thing an iPhone user should know before switching is because Android has so many more features and options there is a LOT to learn.

This. I had a friend switch from iPhone to Android (I did about a year ago) and right off the bat he was getting extremely frustrated that there was so many settings that he needed to tweak. I basically told him if you want a phone that just works and is basically fool proof then stay with an iPhone (I don't mean that in a bad way, the iPhone is a good phone, pretty user friendly, no frills, just works) but if you want a phone that you can customize and tweak to your hearts desire then you want an Android. It will take you a day or two, some google searches and getting familiar with the OS and then you will be good... learning anything new takes some time but once you understand it's all good.
