Note 5 vs iPhone 6s

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

The mapping in WP is the best. Better than stand alone garmin units. I travel ALOT and the Here Map/Drive/City app (all in one now) never has led me astray or let me down. Also, for magazines there is next issue. That's all I use. You can download them and way to go. Also, Since windows 10 is a full OS, you can just download the movies into your computer using any service of your choice and watch them. No streaming needed.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

I have learned to use other apps desgined by 3rd party which 99 % of the time work better than the official apps anyways. I cannot wait to get my 950xl/950 for the wife to match up with our two surface 3s. Worth checking out. It really is a great system.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

Just to toss this out as well, I am not a google/android hater. I am a touchwiz hater, as it drags android down to a crawl after some time of useage where as vanilla android runs good. I do like everything nexus and pixel. I see myself having a pixel 2, pixel C and 6p/5x for me and my wife as well. You can never have to many gadgets ha ha. But our daily drivers will always be Microsoft devices. The surface is such a great product that you can get rid of your laptop, desktop, and tablet for one device. Unless your gaming that is. But for 99% of the general computing public, the surface is the best tool out there right now.

I sit at the kitchen table in the moring with my wife, and we read the news, I float around WC and AC, a few expedition travel websites, and the MSN news/sports sections. She does the same. After I get back from dropping them off at school and work, I sit down in the home office, dock my surface and have a full desktop system. I can work on my upcoming travel blog site for traveling with a child with autism, or whatever. Then, while traveling, hit the tablet mode and read some magazines and books.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

Why do you think you need an iPhone to go with your iPad? I have a Galaxy S6 Active and I still use my iPad mini regularly, for surfing/Clash of Clans, etc. Granted, I have an iPhone 5c collecting dust in my night stand drawer, but when I look at it, the screen just looks sad compared to my S6. Also, I thought the bigger S6 was a chore but when I held my 5c, I couldn't help but think, "What is this?! A cell phone for ants!" ;)

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

When I used an iPhone, the Google Maps nav is pretty good. Apple Maps was horrible though.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

On this boat as well... Honestly what I really want is an android phone with the stability/consistency/battery life I get out of my 6S Plus.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

easy done, PRIV, 6p or moto x should get you there!

Just seen the Priv the other day. Just odd seeing an Android phone with the word Blackberry on it. I wouldn't mind trying it out for a week.

I would have liked to see a BlackBerry like the Passport running Android. That's something that would pique my interest.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

What about the battery life on the Note 5. Is it comparable to what I'm getting on the 6 plus? My usage is typically light to medium.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

The 6 plus is way better. But the Note 5 ain't bad as far as Androids go. The reason I didn't more seriously consider the Nexus 6P is because you can't recharge it wirelessly. I have two and use them every day.

Battery life on the Note 5 isn't as good as the 6 Plus. It is the only advantage I believe the iPhone has over it outside of iMessage.

Are you talking about battery life or the phones overall?

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

One of the main reasons I'm staying on iOS is iMovie. There really isn't a suitable replacement free video editor on android that can even compare. It's one of the main reasons I traded in my Note 5 for the 6 plus. However, if my computer was powerful enough to edit videos and had a bigger hard drive, I'd certainly consider going back to android.

Samsung has a movie editor that I like.

How big is the battery discrepancy?

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

So I'm a few days in with my iPhone 6s plus here are some of my thoughts; First thing I noticed was the difference with the screens, no comparison N5 is far better and I miss it. As far as Battery life the 6s last me alot longer, but I hate how long it takes to charge. Next up app quality, I don't know if it's just me maybe someone can chime in but Apps on IOS seem to be more refined and have a cleaner look. One thing that I thought I would really miss was the inability to run Kodi on IOS without a jailbreak, but looks like someone was able to take care of that I just put it on my iPhone last night. Overall it's still a bit early for me to make a full comparison but I am enjoying the IOS experience this time around. Could be the fact that I wanted change and IOS and Android are completely different.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

I agree that iOS apps are a bit better. There are certain things in iOS that seems to just be more polished. I can't place my finger on any particular thing. It's just a smoother experience.

That used to be the case for me, but not anymore. I no longer think that iOS apps are better quality. With the material design, I really like Android apps, especially the Google Apps. Native apps on my Note 5 are better. Calendar, messages, browser, email, dialer, clock, health, and weather. All better on my Note 5.

I agree, the overall app experience and user experience seems more polished on iOS. The apps and web surfing are smoother. I'm a heavy twitter user and Tweetbot remains unmatched. There are some good Android twitter apps but none can touch Tweetbot. Also whenever I'm visiting a website that has video, mainly news sites, the experience is much better on iOS. On my Note 5 the videos too often won't play and/or I can't make them full screen. That limits my experience. But one area where I think Android takes the cake hands down is in the car. My car unit is both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatible. The basic functionality may be very similar between the two, but to me, Android Auto is 100 times more polished than CarPlay. Google definitely got that one right.
