Note 5 vs iPhone 6s

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

I've tried it before and only made it a few months but I'm making a concerted effort to not switch away from the Nexus 6P at least until my upgrade date, September 2016. There's really no need to honestly.
I wouldn't leave a 6p for an iPhone. Honestly after using my Note 5 and 6p I can't think of going to an iPhone again. Really enjoying Android

As am I. Came to the 6P from a 6 Plus and since I use so many Google services on a daily basis, it just makes sense for me to use an Android as my phone.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

Long time lurker here on the forums. Just went from an iPhone 6 to a Note 5. Got to say I'm really liking this phone. So much smoother than the 6 and the screen is just beautiful. I do enjoy apple (have an iPad and MacBook) but quickly get bored with phones. This year alone I've had a Note 4 (I personally think the 5 is way better), HTC m8 (great sound and not a bad phone at all but HTC just seems to be falling behind with innovation), Motorola Xbox (eh wasn't feeling this one), blackberry classic (never had a blackberry so wanted to give it a go...not a bad device at all but blackberry is a little to late too the party and there are no apps), iPhone 6 ( it's a love/hate relationship with apple...we times I really like their phones cause they simply work but they have not really done anything to get my attention and say I need that phone...6s...eh not impressed) to the note 5 (love it...but still in honeymoon phase...love Ike everything so far). We will see what 2016 brings. I may try and stick with the note for at least 6 months (this year was one about every 3) but I switched to the magnet magneta carrier and have that jump on demand that let's me trade phones 3 times a year it's going to be hard!!

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

I will wait to see what 2016 brings a year from now. I'm predicting that battery life will only get better on Marshmallow and Android N. As well as the return of micro SD storage. It's rumored the S7 will have it.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

Haha. I'm the same way. I have a lot of content on the Play Movies that I can use on either Android or iOS. With Windows, there's no way to play them without streaming where I can download them on Android or iOS.

Anything in particular you miss from the 6s+ when using Android?
One of the things I like the most on iOS is reachability. It is such an odd thing but it really makes one handed use a breeze. Whenever I am using my Note I am always looking to double tap the home button. What I like that helps on Android is the gestures I use from Nova. Swiping down from anywhere to pull down the shade is helpful.

I also like Mobile Safari with adblock because it flies. I use other browsers with adblckers on Android but mobile Safari seems to have a rendering advantage when viewing mobile sites.

Lastly iMessage has a family benefit for those of us with kids who use iPads and iPod touches. I can send them messages. Not a deal breaker but a nice to have.

There is also smoothness to iOS that I feel the Note still misses. May get a 6p soon try out.

On Android, I appreciate widgets, overall customizations, and the ability to lock an email app such as Nine and satisfy my IT departments requirements. I think the Play store is a better experience, but do still think Apple holds the App advantage overall.

Lastly I think the fact that Android will allow for more choice with connected devices in the future may be an advantage. I do not necessarily want Apple everything (thinking watch). Of course that still has to play out.

I could go back and forth on so many things which I guess is why I keep coming back to this thread.

I hope they don't bring the SD Card back. Increased battery life would be great, but I think that problem will be solved soon for me anyway.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

Just ordered a Zero lemon battery case for my Note 5. Battery issue resolved. So I am completely covered now.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

Let us know how that zero lemon case feels on the note. Pictures are one thing, real life feel is another

That's true. But I have seen some great reviews. And to better battery life by more than double is exciting to me.

Anybody in here try a Gear S2 yet. I am thinking of picking up the 3G version with GPS. Played with it yesterday at Best Buy and was pretty impressed. My biggest concern is Tizen.

What's your concern with Tizen?

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

What's your concern with Tizen?

My Gear S2 should be shipping out today. Tizen uses its own apps unlike Android wear which allows interoperability between Android phone apps and watch. I figure it's no big deal for me since I just want the notifications and simple stuff like weather and calendar appointments. Wasn't sure I wanted a smartwatch but didn't know what else to spend my $100 Samsung pay promo on.

App support. I actually like the watch better than Android Wear as it is more actionable versus being totally reliant on Google Now for notifications. Just worried it is basically going to be one if those things that does not improve much.

I see how that could be an issue. What does it do that Android Wear doesn't?

AT&T users. Number Sync is getting awfully close. This could be a device flippers dream. I am hoping for a more seamless Google Voice. Here is the update on the Apple side. Apparently it is working between Galaxy and Gear S2 devices. If I drive by an AT&T today, I will pick up a Gear S2.

Ok, this is interesting. I haven't seen this before. But, would would it allow you to make and receive phone calls and texts over wifi independent from your phone for a tablet? Could Ihave a Note 12.2 and make a receive calls and texts? That would be the dream.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

I gave up my Note 4 for a 6S Plus and while I miss customizing my Note the 6SP is a nice device. It's evil in how fast it is and my family uses iOS so it's convenient. We'll see how long I can be content with it though.

That's what makes iOS shines when you are in a circle of people who have iOS devices.

I don't have Android wear but my gear 2 has an app that allows me run an android phone widget of my choice on the watch. Another app I like is one that lets me see phone battery % from the watch and mute the phone from the watch and lock the phone from the watch. I also use outlook email and samsung email apps. Do you get full emails (no pics though) from those apps on android wear? I do.

This is a quote from one of the articles on it.

"It's all about those other, non-phone connected gadgets AT&T wants to sell you."

Seems like that is exactly what you would be able to do.
