Tried safe mode. Still flashes. 30 minutes to get all my settings back. LOL. Running Malwarebytes now to see if the problem was on the sender end. I'll let ya know. Thanks

Ok cool
Also uninstall those apps like Malwarebytes, anti virus, cleaners then restart and test again, sometimes those apps get in the way

That's such a weird issue! In some cases screen flickering can be caused by a glitch with apps that have the 'Appear on top' permission enabled. Being a contact disable that permission temporarily for apps like Messages and such. Long shot but worth a try.

Good point Javier

Ok. Nothing that says permission to appear on top, nothing in my list with emojis, special characters other than @ for email. The contact that came in with the vcf was deleted and then manually entered. Name and phone number only. Blinking still there. I did a longer screen record that is a bit easier to see. What's irritating is that this phone has been perfect since day 1. Flawless. And now a glitch.

I think I'll just stick with the Google contacts. Installed, imported, no blinking, no seizures. The only thing I question is the profile pics are such low quality and grainy. But that's an easy fix. I'll give this Shot for a while.

thanks

That Google contact app will get updated more often then Samsung also lol

Well, so far I filed a report with Samsung, explained all the stuff I've done. Cache, safe mode, changing listings, deleting there new contact. I included system logs and a screen recording of the flicker. They turned it over to development since they couldn't duplicate the issue. Suddenly, I gotta an update. Installed, rebooted, tested.... No change. I'll put up with the flicker for another week or so then start it all over again. LOL

Well, after playing with settings and resetting just about everything, nothing has changed. The flashing still continues. The only thing I've noticed is that if you click on "See the latest updates" on the main screen, THAT page strobes at 3x the speed and gets harder to break into the loop to back out. Samsung has been no help so far.

Ew. Don't think I'm willing to take that step. Did it long ago and took forever to get everything back the way it was.
Interesting update though. I don't think my problem originated with the import of the .vcf file. I found someone on the Samsung forum that had the same problem. Hers hit right after installing the security update. Both running FVG2, both running security update June 1,2022. I run Textra, she runs Google messages. But her contact all is flashing also.
Samsung help is lost. They keep repeating the same script over and over. I tell them I open an entry in contacts and it starts flashing and they ask what I do to initiate the error. My recommendation from them for the past 3 replies had been to reboot. I starting to feel like I'm taking to Apple support group. Anyone out there still running a 9 with latest security working all right?

Reset app pref-check
Reset settings-check
Clear cache-so many times that the cache is a vacuum now
No option to repair app.

I've uploaded so many times a screen recording of the problem and they keep saying that they need a screen recording of the error. What do I do to initiate the error? (Duh. I open the contact LOL)
At least I know I'm know the only one out here. LOL

So what happens if you open the contacts app and create a brand new contact, save it, then tap on it to open?
Still thinking there was something with that contact from your buddy. Then you mentioned merging and after that all your contacts had that issue. Am I following correctly?

What happens if you now delete the contact that you imported when this all started?
