Note 9 is not a major upgrade from Note 8

The specs and features and very similar - screen size, etc. for all practical purposes, this did not deserve a major version upgrade from 8 to 9 but this is rather version 8.1 and does not deserve a major release.

IMO just a scheme to generate more sales, pretending it's a new phone.

Same goes for S8 to S9.

If it got a much bigger battery, a bigger screen or a different ratio or something significant.
Yeah, all it got is upgraded processor, memory, storage, camera, speakers, battery, and pen. Lol

What is funny is just today I was on Best Buy's website and they had an ad on it for the Note 8. Wanting $900 for it LOL.

I "hearted" nearly everyone's comments. Kept me from having to repeat the same things :) I came from a S9+ and it's a huge upgrade! My first Note phone and I'm in awe of this multi-talented, multi-tasking machine!

As much as I would never buy the Note 9 it still is an exceptional piece of hardware. The Note 8 is no slouch either but I can understand people upgrading from the 8 to the 9 without any hesitation or mental reservation. Either device will get the job done but I'll never understand though why people find it necessary to knock or challenge other people's purchase or upgrade choices. Why rain on someone's parade? Its certainly OK for others to have contrastimg opinions, but I say if you have the money, spend it any damn way you please and don't look back. I for one will never buy or not buy something for someone else's logic or reasonings.

I agree bro..

My note 8 spent most of the year in a drawer, it was a major disappointment to me. The Note 9 has been my daily driver since launch, and i love it. Major improvement IMO, all the little things add up, less rectangular and more square design, improved camera, much better battery life, improved spen with remote features, better screen, larger screen, smaller bezels (top and bottom), faster performance, smoother graphics, improved touchwiz (better software performance), faster data speeds, and increased storage.

Yes, all those improvements were minor ones, but overall they add up to a significantly better and more polished product.

Well, no one said you had to upgrade from your Note 8

Sounds like the OP bought a Note 8 a few weeks/ months before note 9 came out, oops, LOL.

And for "most of the year" what phone DID you use? Just interested.

It's true that the "gap"between phone iterations is getting smaller and smaller. It's definitely true for Samsung but it's also true for other manufacturers, like Google.

There hasn't really been any major upgrades from any phone manufacturer from year to year. Most are incremental

There is certainly nothing ground breaking. Even if someone gets on screen FPS right, I don't see the big adavantage. Same with when they roll out a flexible phone. I'm hopeful that A.I. makes some big leaps.
