Note 9 Promotions

I'd be down with this. I've had great luck with the S-series, and terrible luck with the Note series. Everyone remembers the Note7 debacle, and then my Note8 was one of those with the chronic freezing problem.

Really enjoy my S9, size included... so it'll take something really enticing to get me to switch to the Note this time.
"chronic freezing problem"......I'm glad nobody told me this before.....mines perfect

I got such a great deal trading my Note 5 for the Note 8 from Vz... they'd have to give me a 9 for peanuts as the 8 is running so well.

Oh yeah, there were multiple discussions on it including one particularly lengthy thread. If you were active in the Note8 forum you more than likely saw it. Bunch of users jumped ship.

Funny enough , iv never heard of that.

I think they really need to up the promotions for this phone as it's already a seemingly underwhelming release by all accounts. They need extra incentives.

I'd rather Samsung skip the promotions and provide the lowest price they can. That would be the best incentive for me.

Pricing can be a promotion as well. How about a lower price for pre-orders? That would get them an early spike. Basically, whatever the carrier price with be, subtract X amount for the first 30 days that pre-orders go live.

Same here. But as I see it the more you put down the less the monthly payments would be. And the less down payment more monthly payments. I'd rather have put a little more down and pay less later.

I buy my phones outright though. No monthly payment BS.

Not really. Last couple of times I used the trade in offer.

Can I ask what you traded in for the Note8 and what trade-in value you got? I find the trade-ins usually not worth it. Though the S7 for the S9 was pretty good value during T-Mobile's last promotion.

S7 Edge. Believe I got $450 from Samsung Direct, plus free extras.

I finance all my devices. You pay the same price in the end. But spreading the payments out helps a lot. Besides you can always pay off the balance whenever you wish.

Never not bought direct for past 5 years or so. Can't understand being tied to an operator.

But you're not tied to an operator just because you didn't pay it all up-front.
Everyone has their own way they like to do it. Shouldn't really matter to anyone else. I have no mortgage, no car loans, no credit card debt - it just makes me feel better to live that way. I like knowing what I have is paid for. It's a comfort thing for me - but really not that big of a deal to me about a phone either way.

Note 9 supposed to stay the same price! However as Greg says that is for base model. There is a possible 8gb ram model that will come out as well but I would think that's just for Asia. If it's for Europe and North America I wonder what the price of the beefed up 8gb one would be. I would rather have 8gb ram but if it's like $1100 no way I will pay that. I will get the base model.

I'd, reluctantly, pay for the top tier Note9 with greater memory and native storage but in all likelihood that won't make it here. I'm not sure there would be a carrier who would allow its use even if I could get it here without resorting to importing subterfuge. I would want to keep it all above board. I'm also concerned, somewhat, that Verizon would lobby to have a sub-base model built just for its clientele.

I always buy direct from Samsung. Even so I doubt we will get the higher tier options here.
