It's here and finally all set up. Speedwise, it's not really noticeably faster then my 8+ was and as Flossy Carter said on his YouTube review, it's about the same.
The differences come in how you navigate through things without having a home button and to me, some of the gestures are very Android like.
The speaker is very loud and the display looks very sharp and slightly more colorful then what I got on the 8+. A few months ago, I went with a few friends to investigate an old sugar mill in Longmont Colorado that is said to be haunted. I took one picture on the iPhone 8+ back then and it was hard to make out on it's screen what I had captured. I had to email it to my Note 9 to be able to see what was in the picture. On my XS Max, I can clearly see what is in the picture and that is a teen or young adult person wearing a uniform complete with a hat such as what a factory worker would have worn many years ago. I had planned on using this picture to test out the display and it's a nice improvement.
I purchased a glass screen protector to use on the phone and the application went very easy as well as they provide a frame that goes around the phone and then you just insert the screen protector inside of it and complete the install. I really want to get one for my Note 9 now that I saw how easy they are to install.
I have the usual 14 days to decide on keeping it or not but so far I am happy. I'll take it to work tomorrow and give it the full use treatment.
I did have to repair my watches even though I restored the exact backup I had made this morning of my 8+. For some reason, the watches didn't restore already paired as I thought they would have.
I have several T-Mobile lines and an AT&T line so I have enough lines to keep sims in all my current phones.
