Notification LED on S10?

How hard is the edge lighting on battery?

I've not noticed it take a considerable hit yet. I charged to 100% at 8:30PM last night, and haven't charged since. I'm currently at 60% battery with full screen resolution, half brightness, and moderate to high usage as Im transferring files and redownloading and setting up apps and such.
To help with potential battery drain, you can set the thickness and brightness of the edge lighting to something thinner and dimmer.

I was reading it would light up just the ring around the camera though. Does it do that. That's what I was looking for. Or did I read it wrong.

Actually, I'm over the missing LED notification...and I didn't think I would be. While the major issue is not being able to see a blinking light far off (and I would still be happy if they brought it back), having the AOD set to "always on" allows me to look at my phone, without having to unlock it and see that I have messages/missed calls. It looks soooo good.

I'm not. AOD does nothing for me honestly. It doesn't replace the LED in any way.
Yeah, some people just don't get how we are using the LED. AOD is simply not a substitute for seeing my phone, wherever I placed it, with a blue blinking light (work - have to check it) green blinking light (personal message - my discretion) red blinking light (junk - ignore it unless bored). I can't really see what's on the AOD until I basically go pick it up already. Not the end of the world, but a step back for me. Hoping they figure something out for the Note. Been using LED notification to my advantage for a LONG time.

Example - I place the phone on my coffee table and start watching a movie. I glance over and see the LED blinking. Depending on the color, I know whether or not to interrupt my movie - without having to go check the AOD. Don't use you phone that way? I understand. I am fully aware that people have their own way of doing things and it works just as well for them. I like the LED and will miss it (and adapt) if gone.

Verified working on new S10 + Edge lighting is rotating around the screen in Orange, since that's the color I selected to indicate text messages. View attachment 299300

I am doing that one my 9 Plus for notifications I'm guessing it's a pie thing. I love how the screen lights up all around when you get a notification. But I didn't see an option to configure different colors for different apps?

Yes. With the app we've been talking about. So for my texts, I have it set to light up edge panels in orange, and to stay on until I acknowledge the text. For emails, I have it light up blue, and stay on for 5 mins. For facebook, I have it set to 90 seconds. You can select how long you want it on for each app

So without that app your talking can you not set different colors for different notifications?

Prally the only thing disappointing about the s10 is no notification light. Other than that phone is great. I'm so used to the notification light on my s8. Wish the front camera hole would light up for notifications. hopefully they implement this in a future update

With AOD, you do get different color notifications. Out of the box I get a pinkish color for gmail, blue for text and I think purple for a missed call. So I can still see from across the room that I have a notification. Not as good as led, but it does help a lot.

Nope, I just had all the notifications on the screen before.

I just don't remember them and I see colored ones now I think on my AOD I don't remember what was their before pie and what wasn't I always forget and can never tell what's new sometimes. LOL!

Without that app you don't get colored notifications period.

No but I get the edge lighting going around my whole screen but it's the same I think for all the notifications. I picked which apps I wanted to be notified by but didn't have the option of a different color for each one. Mine just lights up a rainbow color all around the edge but goes away too quick.

I wouldn't mind having the LED case with the notifications on the back but all the buttons are exposed and I don't know if I like that or not plus only comes in black and white. I have Textra on my 9 plus but haven't been using it lately but I didn't think all the color options worked I may try it again.

Sorry guys, new to the forum and i also have just come from a S8+ to the s10+ and i am not happy the LED notification has gone and not been replaced, I loved the blinking light and at work and night when i do not or can not have a noise the blinking LED was a god send, without it the phone is useless to me as i can not use it at work and would have to go back.
I tried the app mentioned on previous pages and it asks for permission to view my who phone, messages ect ect and as such i wonder if my personal messages ect would be personal anymore if i enable the app.
Anyone else who has loaded the app have views on this.

There's a LED case available, too. Haven't seen it in action, but it looked like a starry pattern to me? Might be a 'suitable' alternative for those who can't seem to accept an on-screen indicator VS an LED.

To see the option to change colors for different app notification, under the "how to start" tick the box called when a notification comes. Thatll open up a clickable banner that you click on to select apps and their colors
