notification toggle grayed out

Usually greyed out toggles on major settings require a factory reset to fix unfortunately :-\

Fear the Grey!! lol.
yeah. I might be able to get to it today after I run my boy to the airport. still debating on whether to install my Smart Switch backup or just do a cold install of everything with cloud backups.

Ok people, the FDR is done. I performed a custom restore from my Smart Switch backup (T5 Samsung SSD), omitting Settings.

Outside of the obvious pain in the rear for the whole process, it went smoothly. I'm about 85% complete in getting my phone back to where it needs to be.

However, the notification toggles on the native Calendar and Reminder apps are still greyed out. Perhaps "settings" from the Samsung Cloud sync carried over? Though that doesn't make any sense, since ALL of my settings were wiped with the FDR. I've had to make all the appropriate changes to sounds, vibrations, brightness, etc. At this point, I'm at a loss.

Back to the grind.

Is settings reset still greyed out?

That was a mistake on my part. Those settings were greyed out when I was looking at them in DeX mode. From the phone, those were fine. I did my reset from the Settings menu, not the recovery screen.

Interestingly, before the reset, the Signature field on this app was also greyed out. Now, if I choose, I can add a signature to this forum. So, that was fixed.

Ahh ok dex mode makes sense , yeah the forums aop fir signature sometimes works and other times doesn't lol.
For the calendar and reminders app try resetting them without loading your account into them see if its still greyed out , go to each app Long press them tap info>storage>clear data then back out force stop it ?

I apologize if I'm completely confused but I really think that the reason the notification toggles are greyed out for the native Samsung Calendar & Reminder apps is because Samsung changed it with their UI 5 update. When I go to notifications on settings, the calendar app and reminder app do not even appear in the list. The ability to turn off notifications for these apps is deep in the apps' settings. Why would Samsung make it this difficult to turn it notifications is beyond me?

Can u guys show me a screenshot where it's greyed out?

Where I'm going is long press the calendar app then tap info>tap notification>tap notification catagories>tap each menu Screenshot_20221208_133053_Settings.jpgScreenshot_20221208_133059_Settings.jpg

Mustang, yours look so much different than mine. Could it be that notifications are disabled on S22U but not on Fold4 (I'm thinking that's your phone)? And I'm guessing you have Android 13, UI5.

Mine looks the same as yours (@tismydroid) on unlocked S22 Ultra on Verizon. Maybe it's because we have the new 3 individual controls for lockscreen, badge, and pup-up?
I can't attach a screenshot in the app. Will log in to the the site in a while and try to add a screenshot there. Fair warning, I hate the website, so we'll see if I get that done - LOL...

Sorry, I tried the website, but I literally can't even find the S22 forum, but rest assured that my toggle looks just like yours.

I'm not sure if the grayed out buttons are a problem, a bug, or just the way it looks now...

Those 2 apps also do not show up in Settings > Notifications > App Notifications. I can only get to the settings by long pressing the app icon and then selecting settings... Maybe relates?

I actually have been wondering the same thing. It just doesn't look like a software problem. Why they did that? I don't know. Really, all I did was FDR my phone for grins .

Well, you did it for sh** & giggles... and for me .

Ok, but still I want to know why would UI5 on the Fold & Flip 4 have the toggle notification option but the S22U doesn't? Makes no sense.

If you go into notification categories there more menu , the other thing has me stumped is you have the Google message app in right top corner?
yes, if you enable system apps in Notifications > App notifications, the Calendar and Reminder apps appear in the list. Doesn't get rid of the greyed out toggle.

Not sure why those 2 apps are system apps.

I just checked the bride's S22U. Her Calendar app has notifications blocked. I'm wondering if, because they were blocked on her phone prior to 13, the setting carried forward?

Samsung Cloud is also a "system" app.

and after enabling her Calendar app notifications, the toggle is greyed out. there it is.
