Notification

In messenger app the far bottom right icon is a hexagon with a lightening bolt or something. I have a red dot notification there. It's been there for months and its driving me batty! What is this freaking notification for?? Dang developers need no think and not make it a needle in a freaking haystack hunt to figure out what the dadgum notification is for. Language was toned down for this post.

I don't use that app, so I don't know - though others will probably be along soon who will know - but does nothing happen if you tap it?

It is there on the facebook website too. I have tapped it and gone through everything. It's driving me batty. I have a problem with non-intuitive design. This should not be difficult to figure out.
