Notifications muted when Bluetooth paired with vehicle

I have a new Toyota Tundra truck and when I pair my Samsung XCover Pro with the truck I lost all notifications except for my ringer. I don't get any audible notifications for texts, emails, etc. I went into my Pairing settings and disabled all functions except Contacts and Telephone but still I'm missing critical notifications due to the muting. I can't figure out why it's happening but I'm ready to unpair my phone and just give up.

Am I missing some settings elsewhere in the phone settings that are causing notifications to be silenced? Thanks!

Had somewhat similar problems with my Ford pickup, what I did was deleted my connection from my phone and truck. Then you should do a soft reset on the car head unit. Lots of videos on YouTube about soft reset. Then re-pair device.
Make sure when asked to allow access to contacts etc.
Worked for me anyway.
