Notifications & Ringtone Volume Low?

After importing some of the ringtones/alarms from the Droid RAZR and setting them as notification and alarm sounds, it does seem to be much louder. I was always a fan of the Captain's Log notification sound and the classis ringing alarm clock. I've listened to them one after the other and it appears to have made a difference. That right there just removed my only problem with the phone.

If anyone wants to try them, the files can be found in this thread: http://forums.androidcentral.com/droid-razr/132124-razr-system-dump-wallpapers-ringtones.html

I unzipped it on my laptop and then picked the files that I wanted to use. I e-mailed them to myself and then saved them (I'm sure it could be done by USB as well). You'll want to put the sound files that you want in their respective folders on the phone (Alarms, Notifications, or Ringtones). I used Astro File Manager and did it on my phone. Once you do that, the new sounds will show up in the list of files when you select your sounds.

Volume+ works like a champ. So far, that's the only real issue I have noticed.

What is Volume+? I tried looking it up on the app store but I was not sure if I found the right app.

Thanks for the Droid sounds. The sounds the come with the Nexus aren't so impressive.

Its weird. When I'm in the settings area picking the sounds they are super loud. Then when I get an email they are quiet. So, I know the phone is capable of making way loud sounds, but it just doesn't. Has to be a software thing.

volume+ in the market for $1.62 is the only option that I found that worked for me. I put the settings to 6 and it seemed to be right about where my droid x was at

Its odd that some have reported it working great and others that V+ doesn't do anything. I may have to resort to it in the end.

Mine doesn't seem overly loud but not too quiet either. If I was in a loud room I wouldn't hear it, but I would like it to have a bit more volume. Maybe something they will address in a later patch. I will say though the speaker sounds great. The headphones a pretty badass too, makes my little Sony ones look like complete garbage.

I used an audio editor to pump the amplification up on the nexus ringtones. There is not much room for increase. After a minimal amount of amplification, the speaker starts distorting very badly. Unless you want a very staticy noise, you are only going to get a small increase.

In other words, I don't think this will be a software fix. I think this is a limitation of the hardware.

Argh. Missed 2 calls in the last hour. Watching TV with the phone about 1 foot from me and I still didn't hear it. I am NOT a happy camper right now.

Why in the world would they make a phone no one can hear ring? it's a phone FIRST gps, media player, social hub last.

Ok, made it to a VZW store - downloaded a PODCAST on the Epic Touch that I'm using WiFi only , brought the GS2 Epic Touch to the store, downloaded the same podcast on the GNex -

The speaker on the GNex is just really weak. Played the file with the default music app on each phone. I'm very used to the ET, also via Drop Box transferred a few WAV's that i have been using for Ring Tones for many years - all very low on the GNex.

Played a couple of music video's on YouTube - (couldn't compare to the ET as it's WiFI only and I couldn't download the videos beforehand at home on the ET) - the videos were very low - YouTube, so low that unless you were in a quiet room and the phone was very close, you can't really hear it well at all.

So that and the camera - couldn't get a decent pic, took pics with the ET - all were very good (in the store) - actually the VZW employee who didn't know much at all about the GNex was surprised at how much better the ET did (camera and speaker).

So to some the speaker and camera may not be a big deal, if so may be a great choice, for me not as i watch a bit of video and use the phone for podcasts (w/o always being able to use headphones) and a super low volume won't cut it and after the GS2 - being used to an excellent camera , can't see for TWO years taking a step back.

For those of you that don't need a speaker that's decent or camera - you are lucky as you now have a great phone on VZW to choose from.

Just downloaded Volume+ free version and it REALLY helped pump up the ring tone, at least. I put it on setting 4 and it works well. I have not tried the headphones yet. That's next on my to do list...

Did try to call DH on phone in the car earlier today and since I didn't have the phone paired up with my car bluetooth yet, I used the speaker phone. It was totally useless. I felt like the speaker wasn't even on! YIYEKS. Need some help with this Google ASAP!

I'm sure this has been mentioned ITT, but I just picked up the paid version of Volume+ and WOWZA! Really does the trick, especially at a setting of +8 or so. Just play some music and adjust it til you're happy!

I have the same problem with low volume. What is odd, while entering my password into OI Safe the touch sound were just as loud as my Rezound and DINC. On a side note I retuned the Rezound due to Bluetooth not connecting and it being a known problem. VZW was going to send me a FRU because it was 17 days old. It was worth returning for 35 bucks.

Free version of volume+ fixed my problems, I was afraid I'd have to trade in the phone for a rezound! Putting volume+ on +3 made the phone so loud that I had to turn the volume rocker down a few notches.
