Nougat OTA Update

I just got the U update via OTA a couple hrs ago. Running it now. So far my apps work and I am loving the new small display size. Too early to tell about battery life.
Battery life on the U build has been great for me got 13 hours a few days and Doze actually seems to work much better than the NRD90M build very happy with it.

I don't mean to butt in but I'm having the same issue as a couple of others here and I'm wondering what's going on. I got the Nougat update notification last night, waited til this morning to install because my battery was low. It showed all the "This update will upgrade to Nougat 7.0 and a few security bits and bobs etc" message, got all excited to install the update this morning, but it's still on 6.0.1. Is it something I did or will it do a further update? I wasn't on the Beta program or anything.

I had to do the install twice. The first time it optimized about 80 applications and when it was done, was still at 6.0.1.
The next time it optimized well over 100 and when it was done I was on 7.0.

After the first install, I went into Settings and back to System Update and that installed it.

Thats what exactly happened to me. I got the notification upadated and later it was samw,i even went on beta after That but still i haven't got anything... I am sick of waiting honestly

I enrolled back into the Beta Program and voila I got the September security update. Does that mean I won't get anymore updates going forward if I enroll again? I thought it was a stable Nougat release I got and not a beta? Google doesn't make this easy do they?

I've spent the last nine months really hoping (believing) that once Google rolled out Multi Window, I'd finally be able to split screen Netflix...

NOPE!
Don't blame Google - this is an app issue: when you attempt to put Netflix into multi-window mode it clearly states that it doesn't support split-screen, unlike other apps which 'may not' support it (but which often do).

Developers can:
- do nothing, in which case Google will try to utilize multi-window
- specifically reject multi-window, in which case Google doesn't try it
- implement the features, which gives the greatest flexibility

Complain to Netflix

(As a side note, Netflix even prevents you from taking a screenshot of their app, so I couldn't include the error message shown.)

I got the September security update last night, and the install message also said it was to prepare the system for Android 7.0. That install went fine, but I haven't received the second update for Android 7.0.

If the screen didnt go black with the android robot guy doing his thing, it didnt update. try going back into check for update and see if its there and try downloading and restart install should pop up.

Re: Netflix
My comment may have came out poorly. I certainly don't blame Google for the multi window problem with Netflix. It never worked in my old Note2 either.

I was simply hoping that Google would be able to make it happen when Samsung couldn't. I'm just stoked i can reply to chats without having to close out of the browser I'm reading too. It's the little things that i appreciate the most 🙂🙂

Been on the phone with Google about this. They don't seem to have any idea what the problem is, nor do they seem aware that it is somewhat widespread. They offered 2 solutions: 1) a factory wipe; or 2) just wait and see if a new notification comes through. I asked if they could offer any assurance that either of those solutions would get me the update. Nope. But they won't give me access to "level 3" tech support unless and until the do the wipe, which they can't tell me will do any good in the first place. Nice.

Got a notice from Google that they are going to push out (it said to me, but I assume everyone) an update to 6.0.1, which will prepare it for 7.0. I actually got hold of someone from Google in the USA, and it was a huge difference in support. No time frame , but it said soon. I had the same problem of downloading 7.0 and then it didn't install.

I did the register/deregister thing and no update. One of the reasons I bought a Nexus phone was that it would get timely updates (more or less like the iPhones do). I guess, while hugely better than Samsung, which 8 months to get MM, it's not really instant. Have I somehow screwed myself out of getting the update by deregistering?

I did the register thing, but I didn't deregister right away. I think you need to leave it on for a bit so it sees you're in the program. I updated a day before you posted this and then deregistered the following morning.

Same here and no update. My kids nexus 5x got it Tuesday. I have played with phones and like the update. Just wish it would come to my phone.

My brother also received the Nougat update OTA around Tuesday-Thursday which is disappointing but oh well. I'll wait patiently

So I had an odd experience in this regard. Got the notice last night that I had an OTA update ready. I was making dinner and wanted to do some research before installing, so delayed about 90 minutes. When I finally initiated the install, the phone initially said something like "preparing your update to Nougat" (or words to that effect, but "Nougat" was definitely in the message.) I put the phone aside but noticed that the screen changed about 30 seconds later, and when I looked it said my phone was up to date. I thought this odd, because all prior updates - even just monthly security updates - took several minutes. When I checked the phone, it said I'm still on 6.01, and when I "check for updates" it continues to say my phone is up to date. Not a huge deal. I can just wait for the OTA and/or do the update manually, but this is odd and something I've never experienced before. Thought I'd run it by you all and see if anyone else had experienced this and/or if anyone had any thoughts or advice. Thanks.

I'm following up on this. I've still only received the September security update and remain on 6.0.1. I will call it interesting, but really more frustrating, is that I am now getting 4 or 5 random reboots a day. This started after I received the update two days ago. I did a factory reset this morning, and all was good until the last hour when I've had two reboots. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Based on activity in this thread I see those NRD90U OTA deliveries are flying all over the place... /sarcasm

Received the September security update yesterday and haven't experienced any reboots.
