Nov 8 2010 maintenance update

For what it's worth, I am rooted and never received the OTA. I downloaded the update from another thread on here and installed via Recovery. All is well for me.

So wait, you ARE rooted, and installed the update with no issue?

Forgive my ignorance, but why is it that a rooted device that gets the OTA notice cannot install it?

I got the OTA update Wednesday morning. I believe that the DINC is now handling its power better. My phone has been on for 3 hours, I made one short call, and the power meter is still at 99%.

I'm rooted and DID get the OTA. I have yet to install it. Waiting on an expert to tell me it's OK :p

My apologies, root did go away. I saw that the superuser icon stayed but that's because it's only the app shortcut.

I got the maintenance update on Wednesday. The only noticeable difference is bloatware. There's no power changes, my phone still drains the same way. And no noticeable performance changes either. Lame.

So, I'm curious. I do remember when FROYO came out, that if you were rooted and install the FROYO update, it would unroot your phone. The solution was to downgrade to Eclair, then root, then run a ROM that was based on FROYO. Now, I'm ok running the update and having it unroot, as long as I know Unrevoked will root it again.

So, I guess my question is, have you tried unrevoked to root it again?

I ran into issues doing this just now. My phone would freeze up after booting up and I still did not get root back. I wouldn't try it. I had to factory reset.

So now, you have a factory reset, with the update and no root? That sucks. I'll wait. I guess I'm getting root explorer to shut off this update message. I would get a new rom, but Skyraider gave me lots of force close issues. They say Skyraider has this included in it, but maybe I'll search for another Sense based ROM. I know some people say trying ROMs is fun, but to me it's a Pain in the @$$. I just want the phone to work. It was doing that just fine. Rooting enabled me to delete the battery stats file and did improve my battery life. But otherwise, the only other thing I like root for is so I have a good backup of all my data and apps through titanium. I need that. I had it with my blackberry with desktop manager.

I noticed my notifications are showing differently. They seem to have a green circle with a number for the count of new messages/tweets. It seems to be for sms and Twitter but haven't noticed it for email. I never had this displayed before the update. I guess it could be a setting I never "turned on" that was defaulted by the update. I'm still relatively new to Android so I am unsure...recovering crackberry addict.

I must say after 3+ years "on crack" the past 4 months on Droid have been much more enjoyable. :-)

You got it! Granted, I don't have the need for root access much.

I was always changing roms as well and just went back to stock with root. I will just wait for the ability to root with the new update.

Yeah, titanium rocks. Can't wait to have that back.

would running launcher pro/adw.launcher as the default launcher vs senseUI interfere with getting this update? I would think not but just want to make sure. Thanks! :)

I had a rooted incredible with s-off. I downloaded the update and ran it. I then re-installed clockworkmod, superuser, and all seems fine.

I also had a rooted incredible with s-off. Downloaded the update and then i followed the directions on the Unrevoked forever wiki. Re-installed/Flashed the clockworkmod, superuser. It all works perfectly.

I tried to root after the ota, I cant get my dinc to root unrevoked goes through a few phone reboots then sits there saying "waiting for root"
I let it sit there for an hour and nothing happend, I tried it 3 times, all no go.
Im thinking this ota update is preventing me from rooting, hopefully unrevoked will come out with an update soon

I received the maintenance update Thursday morning. Phone came off the charger at 730 am and I wasn't required to charge it until 915 pm. Maybe that's a fluke, I don't know. I am for sure that my phone charges a helluva lot faster. I went from the 15% notification to halfway charged in 20 minutes on my car charger while talking. Before the update I would not have made it out the red. Happy updating folks.

Yes, I second that! I thought I was losing my mind when I saw I was at 100%. Definitely charging quicker, anxious to see how well it holds. I guess we'll see...

I had the notification to update, and I figured I would bite the bullet even though I am rooted. I changed my mind quickly and pressed cancel. Now the notification to update is gone. Woo hoo! that was getting on my nerves.

getting my update now and I run LP Plus so it didn't effect me getting the update.
After the update went right back to LP Plus and can't see any other changes but the V cast app.

And slacker radio app,pdf replaced with adobe reader,
I have LP+ as well
