Nova or Google now launcher

couple of points:

Always take Google app updates... that's where all the cool stuff is.

As far as Nova's ability to get to Now via the home button. That takes a HUGE hit with 6.0. A long press of the home button no longer brings you into Now (really the Google app, but that's Now... and the launcher). A long press loads On Tap, from there, you can get into Now if you click on the G icon. So even if you are on the homescreen, you'll have to wait for OT to load, then for the Google App to load.

That being said... :) I've used a bunch of launchers... tried most every major one I've come across. And dat Now page.... it is still the easiest and most convienent way to get in there and look at my goodies as I've come across. Yes, the Google launcher is pretty thin on configuration options. But after using it for a long time, I really don't mind. It's a launcher, not an app. All those settings turned out to be a time-sink.... I spent as much time fussing with which setting I liked most as I did actually using it to launch, well, apps.

So I let the Google launcher do what it does best, make it easy to get me my information.

Plus, I've grown so accustomed to the scaling on Now, that whenever I use another launcher, everything looks messed up... even if I fuss with the sizing values.

You know what, you're absolutely right. After uninstalling the Nova launcher I'm going back to the Google now launcher, I was so much happier last night at work. As far as updating it, again I'm using the previous version of the Google now launcher for now, only because I feel like it uses less battery, but maybe that's just me! And yes I'll try to hurry up date again today and test out the battery life for the Google Search app under battery usage. I just thought I so saw using a little bit more percentage of battery then the older version., you're also very right on that point, Google now launcher easy easy simple access to all the info that you need readily available to you! No questions asked... I can't wait for marshmallow Google now on top excetera excetera..

Not unlike some defenses I've heard for preferring iOS to Android--all that fussing with appearances. ;) [I kid. I kid.]

Perhaps, but fussing with launcher settings got tiresome. And I never really got a lot of benefit from it.

I mean messing with the launcher settings was nice it's never got old but I figure Google has Google now launcher for a reason. & I really didn't miss the sliding or swiping for Google now cards.

I have two phones and like them both. Can't seem to figure out how to make them identical with google launcher but with nova it is a breeze.

I like that I can save my home screen setup in Nova the load to a new phone makes set up a breeze

I've used nova launcher well over a year and I love it. Very smooth. Quick launcher however I am a pure Google guy and REALLY like being able to pull Google now cards from the left /home screen so I'm giving Google now a shot... Few days now.. Each have there pros and cons.. I miss using gestures for example swipe down opens quick settings in my nova launcher.. Where as Google now I have to go to the top of the screen.. Not a huge deal but on my nexus 6 its not always easy if using one hand.... I'll stick with Google now launcher for a few weeks and go from there

Okay so I figured before I lock my bootloader down and upgrade to marshmallow, I will try nova launcher again. Who prefers nova launcher versus Google now launcher battery usage of eyes and memory usage of Oz? I know it's all about customization and personal preference, but what is everyone favor here?
I've been a Nova Launcher user for quite some time. With Nova's amazing customizability (i.e. icon sets, dock options, gestures, etc), I see absolutely no reason to choose Google Now Launcher.

I use Nova. I definitely like being able to customize. I get to the Google now cards easily by swiping up from the bottom of the home screen.

FYI with Marshmallow, the method to invoke Now cards has changed. You now long-press the home button and tap on the Google icon that shows up right above it. Still convenient enough, if you ask me.

I don't use Google Now, and I've been using Nova Prime since ICS. The only customizations I use are to simplify down to one home page, which I replicate on each of my devices. It's always familiar, no matter which one I'm using.

I'm running Nova with a swipe up gesture that launched Google Now. The two biggest benefits of Nova, or any 3rd party launcher, is re-sizing icons on the home screen and being able to consolidate the app drawer to ONE screen.

Ok so after about a month of using Google now laugher. And coming from nova I do like being able to change icons with nova launcher.. However I'm loving Google now launcher, smooth fast and just feels right... Dont think I'll go back to nova

I like the fact that with the Google now launcher I can easily swipe over to see my cards. Its a really nice touch of course. I did go back to the stock launcher after all like I said before. There's just something that I like better about it.

Me too. I never mess with the stock UI. The Google Now launcher suits me just fine.

I found with Nova Launcher a little with the Google now cards its just as easy to access them and for the Google Search app in the battery usage break down list in settings menu, it doesn't use only as much battery as with the Google now launcher. I'm getting more batter with Nova Launcher in general.

I'm always around a charger, so that's a non-issue with me. I just like using the phone as Google made it. If others feel differently, that's fine. At least as android users, we have many choices.

I also like Google now launcher but I don't like how much battery the Google search app uses through the launcher through nova launcher everything is pretty low and I am also usually near a charger, but I also hate being a person always dependent upon a charger at the same time.
